Interaction Designer

Summary:

The Senior Interaction Designer is responsible for building email campaigns using Salesforce Marketing Cloud/ Adobe Journey Optimizer.

• Note, Salesforce Marketing Cloud is the current tool, Adobe Journey Optimizer will be onboarded, so experience with Adobe Journey Optimizer is preferred.

The Senior Interaction Designer will be someone who solutions and executes towards goals. They make the most of the tools available, along with their knowledge, and skills, to solve challenges. They consider how their work affects others. They provide consultancy using their expertise in the industry. They are organized and help set up and maintain a system. They are a positive, supportive team member.

The ideal Senior Interaction Designer has a mix of design and development skills/knowledge. This role leans heavier on front end email development. They are expected to be knowledgeable of email best practices and provide feedback on how to increase email performance. They also have tricks up their sleeve to code for challenges that arise from varying support from different email clients, such as rendering issues from Outlook to Gmail etc.

The role is part of the In-House Agency.

They will collaborate with teams in Marketing and IT including Designers, Copywriters, Traffic Managers, Product Owners, Program Managers, Compliance, QA, Developers, UX.

Email projects will encompass transactional and commercial email types. The email project requests come from a variety of departments including product marketing, servicing, operations, company partners, internal communications, Etc. The individual must quickly pivot from one to the next, utilizing different templates and changing nuances of the variety of types of email needs.

The Senior Interaction Designer works within our design system. They are organized and follow our structure of folders and naming while creating/saving/editing content. They understand content block types and why and when to choose the appropriate type to use. They understand how emails and data relate to each other. They realize the benefit of changing up the status quo to discover improvements. They know the best route to take (or routes to choose from) to execute a successful campaign. They help set up the design system itself.

• Utilize programs such as Dreamweaver/Photoshop/InDesign/Illustrator, or similar, as needed to create/manipulate/prepare content and files.
• Responsible for QA'ing and troubleshooting their own work, ensuring consistent quality and accuracy produced. They effectively test to ensure their campaign success.
• Supportive and reliable team member.

Responsible for building emails in SFMC/AJO, which entails:

• Consuming project request documents.
• Turning design mockups into fully functioning products.
• Adhering to brand standards and best practices.
• Working in a combination of strategies to build email, based on the situation. One email may be heavily built using Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Studio's drag and drop feature to pull content together from our pre-saved library. Another email may need to be heavily built with custom HTML. Another email may be heavily built using dynamic content.
• QA Testing and Troubleshooting. Adjusting emails to render as expected across various email clients/devices.
• Acquiring approvals.
• Confidence in quality of product produced.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Technical Requirements:

• Writing HTML and CSS.
• Bonus: AMPscript/Profile Query Language (PQL)/SQL/JavaScript
• Knowledgeable in troubleshooting email client rendering inconsistencies.
• Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
• Marketing email best practices.
• CAN SPAM rules.
• Familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or Adobe Journey Optimizer preferred but not required.
• Basic mortgage knowledge preferred but not required.
• Experience/ability to work with a project management solution such as Smartsheet or similar.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree from a Four (4) year College or University. 5 + years of relevant technology consulting or industry experience.
• Experience in email platforms such as Adobe Journey Optimizer or Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
• Experience in email testing platforms such as Litmus, Email on Acid or Everest.
