📍 Remote (US-Based)

💰 $230K–$280K Base + Equity

The Role:

A product-lead, high-growth, tech company is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead the buildout of a modern, cloud-native data platform from the ground up! As the most senior IC on the Data Platform team, you'll partner with Engineering, Product, Security, and Compliance to drive the architecture that powers real-time analytics, AI/ML, and petabyte-scale data.

Responsibilities:

• Own technical vision and architecture end-to-end
• Design and build a next-gen platform for product and internal use
• Architect for batch + streaming, low latency, scalability, and fault tolerance
• Lead on data modeling, warehousing, governance, and ingestion
• Mentor senior engineers and promote best practices
• Optimize performance, cost, and compliance in a modern cloud environment

Qualifications:

• 8+ years in data engineering or platform architecture
• 5+ years at the Principal level or similar
• Deep experience with Kafka and modern streaming systems
• Strong hands-on knowledge of ClickHouse, Iceberg, or Snowflake
• Cloud-native expertise (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Experience scaling systems supporting petabyte-level workloads
• Background in designing data systems for governance and compliance
• Bonus: AI/ML platform experience for preparing IPO-scale growth
