Job Title: Staff Full Stack Software Engineer

Salary Range: £90,000 - £110,000 (depending on experience)

An innovative, mission-led tech business is seeking a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer to help scale its next-generation platform used by thousands of small businesses across the UK and North America. This is a high-impact individual contributor role within a remote-first engineering team that is focused on building intuitive, scalable and production-critical systems that drive real-world outcomes.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in backend and infrastructure engineering, but is also comfortable operating across the stack, collaborating closely with product and design teams, and leading by example.
Your Mission
You'll be joining an agile product engineering organisation where Staff Engineers are hands-on technical leaders. You'll help architect systems, mentor other engineers, and work on projects with strategic impact across the business. Key Focus:
- Lead the design, development and delivery of robust and scalable full stack solutions
- Build APIs and services that support high-volume, real-time use cases
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape product direction and architecture
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching across engineering squads
- Drive best practices around testing, deployment, observability and performance
- Contribute to a strong engineering culture grounded in autonomy, ownership, and quality
Who You Are
Essential:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally within high-growth or product-led environments
- Proven expertise in Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and Kafka; experience with React, TypeScript and AWS is highly desirable
- Experience building microservices and event-driven architecture at scale
- Demonstrated success in leading complex engineering projects with long-term value
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Desirable:
- Background in startups or product companies, particularly from Series B onwards
- Familiarity with infrastructure tools like Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform and CI/CD pipelines
- A pragmatic, hands-on approach and the ability to operate in a remote-first environment
