We are looking for a Director of Email Marketing who can help us build a best-in-class email and lifecycle marketing operation that reflects the same care, clarity, and trust we bring to our content.

Role Description

The Director of Email Marketing will lead the strategy, execution, optimization, and performance of Great American Media’s email marketing programs across our brands, including Great American Pure Flix, Great American Family, and Insider/community audiences. This role is responsible for turning email into a disciplined, high-performing growth and engagement channel that supports subscriber acquisition, retention, reactivation, content discovery, premiere tune-in, community engagement, and brand loyalty.

The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on: someone who can develop lifecycle strategy, write or shape compelling campaign briefs, manage segmentation and testing, ensure flawless execution in platforms such as HubSpot & Braze, and bring strong reporting discipline to every campaign. This person should be highly organized, detail-oriented, technically comfortable, and deeply respectful of the audience we serve. A knowledge and appreciation of faith-based content is a plus.

Email Strategy

  • Own the email marketing strategy across acquisition, engagement, retention, win-back, content promotion, and community messaging.
  • Build lifecycle programs that support subscriber growth, trial conversion, paid retention, reactivation, and long-term customer value.
  • Develop audience-specific communication strategies for subscribers, lapsed users, prospects, Insiders, premium members, and platform-specific cohorts.
  • Partner with programming, brand, product, creative, analytics, and customer service teams to ensure email campaigns support broader company priorities.
  • Create messaging strategies around key tentpoles including Great American Christmas, Easter/Lent, original series premieres, movie launches, virtual events, and subscriber offers.

Campaign Execution

  • Lead day-to-day execution of email campaigns from brief through launch, including copy coordination, creative assets, segmentation, QA, approvals, scheduling, and post-send analysis.
  • Serve as the primary internal expert and operator for email platforms, including Braze or similar CRM/lifecycle marketing tools.
  • Ensure all campaigns are properly built, tested, rendered, linked, tagged, scheduled, and monitored.
  • Establish rigorous QA processes for subject lines, preheaders, links, images, personalization, dynamic content, unsubscribe compliance, audience targeting, and reply-to configuration.
  • Maintain campaign calendars and ensure cross-functional visibility into upcoming sends.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A strong email/lifecycle marketer with experience in subscription, streaming, media, entertainment, retail, nonprofit, faith-based, or community-driven brands.
  • Highly detail-oriented and operationally disciplined.
  • Comfortable owning both strategy and execution.
  • Skilled in Braze, Iterable, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or similar platforms.
  • Experienced with segmentation, automation, triggered campaigns, lifecycle flows, and campaign QA.
  • Strong enough technically to troubleshoot issues without waiting for someone else to save the day.
  • A clear communicator who can work across departments and keep initiatives moving.
  • Sensitive to brand voice, audience expectations, and values-driven messaging.
  • Able to operate with urgency without creating chaos.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in streaming, subscription media, entertainment, direct-to-consumer, or membership-based businesses.
  • Experience with Braze and HubSpot strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with subscriber lifecycle metrics including trial conversion, churn, retention, reactivation, and engagement.
  • Experience supporting content launches, premieres, seasonal campaigns, or fan/community engagement.
  • Comfort working with executive stakeholders, including the President/CEO and translating business priorities into effective audience messaging.
