User Interface Designer

UI Designer – Accessibility Focused (EU Remote, Contract)

Contract Length: 6 Months

Working Schedule: 4 Days per Week

Location: Remote (within the EU)

Rate: £500/day Outside IR35

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer with a strong focus on accessible, user-friendly interfaces across both web and mobile platforms. You’ll play a key role in designing inclusive digital experiences that comply with EU accessibility standards, working closely with developers and stakeholders to bring thoughtful, usable designs to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver accessible interfaces for web and mobile applications.
• Ensure all designs align with EU accessibility laws (e.g., EN 301 549, WCAG 2.1+).
• Create design systems, prototypes, and user flows using Figma, with accessibility in mind.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, product managers, QA).
• Conduct design audits and contribute to accessibility improvements across products.
• Advocate for inclusive design principles within the team.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing accessible digital interfaces across web and mobile.
• Strong working knowledge of Figma and accessibility-first design processes.
• Understanding of EU accessibility legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience designing with WCAG guidelines (2.1 AA or higher).
• Ability to work independently in a remote, cross-functional team.
• Located within the EU time zone.

Nice to Have

• Experience working on public-sector or regulated industry products.
• Familiarity with assistive technologies (screen readers, keyboard navigation).
• UX research or testing experience with diverse user groups.
