Technical Product Manager

Profile

We are looking for a Technical Product Manager for Gradle Build Tool to help drive the evolution of the product to the next level and fully realize our vision, including developer-first software definition (see https://blog.gradle.org/declarative-gradle) and, in the future, broader polyglot support.

We are looking for someone passionate about making other software engineers more productive and who has experience in a similar role in a major developer tooling product. The role requires a combination of technical depth, strategic thinking, and a product mindset.

The person in this role will work closely with Gradle Build Tool engineering team and report to the VP of Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Define and manage the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with the product vision and strategic goals.
• Support the engineering team in planning and executing major projects in various functional areas.
• Communicate plans and progress to all relevant stakeholders as well as the open-source community.
• Research market trends and monitor the competitive landscape to assess their potential impact on the product strategy and roadmap.
• Gather and analyze usage data and community feedback to identify product gaps and further evolution opportunities.

Minimum qualifications

• Experience as a technical product manager of a major developer tooling product.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale technical projects.
• Strong software engineering background.
• Deep understanding of product management principles and processes.
• Solid understanding of modern software development techniques and practices.
• Experience with build automation tools.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
