We are looking for a Designer to support work in UI/UX and data visualization. This role involves translating complex research into intuitive, engaging, and high-impact designs.
About the Role
We are seeking a Designer to help communicate research effectively. You will collaborate with a Product Designer to create user-centered websites, dashboards, and data visualizations. This work will play a key role in enhancing engagement with the research community and stakeholders, directly influencing how research is understood.
A key focus for this role is developing strong intuition around how to represent complex concepts in ways that resonate with technical audiences—particularly AI researchers and adjacent stakeholders.

This is a fully remote role. Contracts can be offered in many countries, with a preference for candidates in North and South American time zones. Applicants from all backgrounds, experiences, and credentials are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Design responsive user interfaces, graphs, and data visualizations
- Translate complex research into clear, intuitive visual outputs
- Develop visualisations that reflect what technical audiences (e.g. AI researchers) find meaningful and insightful
- Identify and solve design challenges aligned with user and organisational needs
- Create clear design specifications
- Produce mock-ups and prototypes to explore and communicate concepts
- Ensure consistency with design systems and visual standards
- Contribute to areas such as design systems, user research, and usability testing (depending on interests)
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years’ experience designing interactive digital products
- A portfolio showcasing UI/UX and/or data visualization work
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of typography, colour, and layout principles
- Proficiency in Figma (including auto-layout and components)
- Strong intuition for how complex technical or research concepts should be visualised
- Interest in AI, research, or data-driven domains
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with AI research or similar technical domains
- Experience in scientific or technical communication
- Skills in illustration or branding
- Frontend development knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Matplotlib, Plotly, or similar)
- Strong written communication skills
