We are an early-stage tech company building an AI-powered platform to help public bodies discover and engage with Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), driven by the new Procurement Act 2023. Our goal is to level the playing field for the 99.9% of UK businesses that are SMEs, ensuring they get fair access to the annual public spend.

The Role

We are searching for a talented and versatile AI Developer to be our founding engineer. This is a unique opportunity to build the core intelligence of our platform from scratch. You will have complete technical ownership over the design, development, and deployment of the machine learning models that power our MVP. If you are a hands-on builder who thrives on turning complex ideas into working prototypes, this role is for you.

What You'll Do:

• Build the Brains: Design, build, and deploy the core machine learning models for our intelligent supplier matching engine using UK procurement data.
• Innovate with NLP: Develop a prototype NLP algorithm to analyze tender documents and identify language that creates barriers for SMEs.
• Develop the Backend: Create the backend services, data pipelines, and APIs (Python/FastAPI/Flask) needed to bring the user interface to life.
• Integrate and Automate: Work with public data sources (e.g., Find a Tender service) and build the logic for our automated compliance reporting feature.
• Collaborate and Create: Partner closely with the Project Manager to define what's possible and with our UI/UX designer to ensure your AI outputs are presented beautifully.

What We're Looking For:

• 3+ years of hands-on software development experience with a strong focus on building and deploying AI/ML models.
• Expertise in Python and its data science ecosystem (e.g., scikit-learn, spaCy, pandas, TensorFlow/PyTorch).
• Proven experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• A pragmatic, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work autonomously and make smart technical decisions.
• Bonus Points for: Full-stack experience (e.g., React/Next.js), familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/Supabase), and knowledge of containerization (Docker).
