Lead Software Engineer

We’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer who lives and breathes both frontend & backend architecture, cloud-native systems, and modern AI-assisted development.

This is not a CRUD-only role. We need someone who can design systems from scratch, lead technical decisions, and ship production-grade infrastructure with confidence.

What you will do

• Architect and lead development of scalable backend systems
• Own system design decisions (APIs, data modeling, scaling, fault tolerance)
• Build high-performance services using Node.js, NestJS, NextJS and TypeScript
• Design and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS
• Implement containerized environments using Docker & Dockerfiles
• Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform
• Design and operate systems on Kubernetes (or simpler alternatives)
• Lead code reviews and enforce highest engineering standards
• Use AI tools (Cursor, Claude, etc.) super effectively for agentic coding workflows
• Not be limited to one tech stack - choose the best one for the job. You should be comfortable in picking up anything across the board

Required knowledge

• Expert-level Node.js
• Strong experience with NestJS
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript
• Very comfortable with React (or Next)
• Solid AWS or Hetzner or other cloud experience
• Hands-on experience with:

- Docker & containerization

- Kubernetes

- Terraform

• Strong understanding of:

- Distributed systems

- API design

- Caching strategies

- Database design (SQL + NoSQL)

- System scalability & performance tuning

- Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines

Ideal candidate

• You can work with little to no direction (in terms of finding and building the right stack) and can take ownership of the work
• You have deep understanding of fundamentals and don't use AI as a crutch
• You worked in fast paced startups before
• Be comfortable with wearing many hats within your tech role. We do whatever is necessary to make the MVPs successful
• You have worked in starups before and have more than 5 years of active & professional development career

What's in it for you & how we work

• This is a half-time/part-time position but for the right person we can make it a full-time.
• We are fully remote team. Great place if you are solo-contributor. Recently we are planning to open up an office space in Dhaka (so there is a possibility it will be on-site/hybrid)
• We are flexible on compensation (estimated full-time range: 90,000 BDT - 200,000 BDT depending on your skills and experience level).
• Flexible schedule; we care more about quality and output than when and how you do the work (we do have team meetings every other day and as necessary - usually EST time late evenings)

Interview process

Step one: a screening call (tech + behavioral).

Step two: a take home exercise (ideally should be able to complete within 2-4 hrs.

Step three: final interview reviewing the take home exercise and group discussion.
