Product Designer - Complex Systems (MedTech & More)
About the role
You’ll work on core product features for complex software and on interactive education/marketing tools (apps and tools, simulators, gamified explainers) for leading tech companies in healthcare and beyond.
Many of these are on‑prem, device‑connected, or workstation/console experiences. Your job is to lead the effort - jump into ambiguous, highly technical tasks and turn them into clear flows, states, and Figma prototypes that teams can build from.
What you’ll do
- Lead feature definition in complex products: join mid‑stream, get context fast, propose clear user journeys, states, and interaction patterns.
- Translate ambiguity into clarity: partner directly with client product owners, system engineers, usability experts, and marketers to shape decisions.
- Design for on‑prem complexity: data‑dense screens, multi‑step workflows, device‑driven or real‑time states, and visuals that make complex ideas simple.
- Create interactive education experiences: simulators, gamified explainers, and demo apps that help non‑experts grasp advanced concepts.
- Be client‑facing: run working sessions, present rationale, manage feedback, and keep momentum across multiple parallel projects.
- Collaborate asynchronously: most clients are US‑based; you’ll plan your own hours while keeping stakeholders unblocked.
What you’ll bring (minimum)
- Mid/Senior-level craft and judgment, demonstrated through a portfolio of complex, technical products
- Case studies showing how you simplified challenging software in medical/health tech, robotics, industrial, scientific, visualization-heavy, or similar domains
- Proficiency in Figma for interaction detail, prototyping, and clear specs
- Ability to learn fast, ramping up quickly on unfamiliar domains and clarifying vague features asks
- Professionalism - managing yourself in projects with the biggest companies in the world requires impressive responsibility and standards, clear communication and precise delivery.
- Excellent English, with proven ownership, reliability, and self-management across multiple projects
Nice to have
- HMI / embedded UI design experience
- UX/UI work on Electrophysiology (EP) software or other complex technical systems
- Gaming UX/UI background
- Strong graphic / illustration skills
- Project leadership experience
- Client-facing communication skills
What this role is not
- Not marketing websites or e‑commerce.
- Not basic admin dashboards/CRUD apps.
- Not a junior role.
- Not a fit if accountability and proactive communication in a flexible schedule are challenging for you.
