Our team specializes in outside plant (OSP) design, quality control, and field engineering services that support fiber optic infrastructure nationwide.
Position: OSP Quality Control Engineer (Independent Contractor)
Work Type: Remote (1099 Independent Contractor)

We are seeking a highly skilled OSP Quality Control Engineer with experience in LightGig, Aramis, and IQGEO. Experience with IQGEO using AT&T protocol is a must. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and compliance of engineering design packages prior to client submission.
What You’ll Do
- Perform detailed quality reviews of all OSP Engineering Design packages.
- Ensure Aerial, Underground, and Buried cable designs are reviewed and optimized for cost-effective solutions and accurate placement.
- Verify adherence to customer scope of work and project plans.
- Confirm that all existing facilities are accurately represented according to customer records, city data, and field conditions.
- Identify and resolve design inconsistencies, missing data, or potential construction issues.
- Communicate quality findings and collaborate with engineers and project managers to implement corrective actions.
- Approve final designs prior to client submission.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and OSP design guidelines.
- Maintain the integrity of the quality control process to deliver value-engineered, build-ready designs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3+ years of OSP engineering experience.
- Experience with IQGEO using AT&T protocol.
- Working knowledge of systems such as Aramis, IQGEO, WALDO, ORCA, AOtX, AOTS, CEEOT, IWM, MIC, GRANITE, and OCALC.
- Familiarity with Overbuild/LightGig/BAU fiber technologies.
- Strong understanding of OSP fiber construction (underground, aerial, buried, and building entry).
- Knowledge of fiber backbone (F1) and distribution networks (F2).
- Experience with Corning FlexNAP design and terminal placement.
- Understanding of permitting processes (highway, railroad, city, and county).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Earth/Maps.
- Detail-oriented with strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (preferred).
- Experience in telecommunications, construction, or engineering industries.
- Strong understanding of telecom engineering standards, LightGig, or fiber overbuild design/QC.
- Ability to identify potential design issues that could impact network buildout.
- Knowledge of ROW (Right-of-Way), make-ready construction, and utility coordination.
- Capable of identifying guying and anchoring requirements to accommodate new attachments.
- Experience gathering field data and interpreting OSP and substructure designs.
