Picup Media | Design & Innovation Studio
Picup Media is a global leader in jewelry photography and digital solutions, serving over 20,000 customers worldwide through products like GemLightbox, GemCam, and our AI-powered media platform.
We're looking for a QA Engineer to embed directly in our Design & Innovation Studio, working alongside the Founder, CTO, and Product Designer to keep quality high as we ship fast.
This is a build-first role.
You'll be using AI tooling and automation to match the pace of a vibe-coded, rapid-iteration environment — not writing test plans that no one reads.
Our product surface spans a lot of ground: web platform, React Native mobile apps on iOS and Android, desktop apps on Windows and Mac, and physical hardware products like GemCam and GemLightbox that integrate tightly with our software. You need to be comfortable owning quality across all of it.
What You'll Do
- Embed in rapid build cycles from prototype to production — not just the end of the pipeline
- Use AI tools to generate, maintain, and accelerate test coverage across all platforms
- Build lightweight test harnesses for AI-generated and vibe-coded front-end and mobile builds
- Own end-to-end, regression, and exploratory testing across our web platform, React Native mobile apps (iOS and Android), desktop apps (Windows and Mac), and hardware-software integrations
- Test hardware-software interactions for GemCam, GemLightbox, and related devices — connectivity, device state, firmware edge cases, and real-world usage conditions
- Define quality signals and acceptance criteria in collaboration with the Founder and CTO
- Catch edge cases in AI-driven features: model outputs, image processing pipelines, and dynamic UX flows
- Ensure consistent behaviour across platforms — what works on web should work on mobile and desktop
- Set up CI/CD test gates that don't slow down shipping — just make it safer
- Document defects clearly and concisely; prioritise ruthlessly based on real user impact
- Evolve the QA process as the product and team grow
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years in QA, SDET, or quality engineering — ideally in a startup or fast-shipping product team
- Hands-on experience testing apps on both iOS and Android
- Fluent in mobile and web test automation: Detox, Appium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent
- Familiar with desktop app testing on Windows and Mac
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or physical device testing is a strong plus
- Comfortable using AI tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, etc.) to write, review, and accelerate test code
- Can read and reason about front-end and RN code (HTML/CSS/JS/React/React Native) — you don't need to build it, but you need to understand it
- Experience testing AI-driven products: non-deterministic outputs, image or media pipelines, or ML features
- Strong instinct for what to test first when time is short and surface area is wide
- Experience setting up or improving CI/CD pipelines with test automation baked in
- Remote-friendly, but must be available and willing to work within China/Hong Kong time zones (UTC+8)
- Background in SaaS, AI products, or hardware-software systems is a strong plus
- Low ego, high output — you care about the product, not the process for its own sake
Why Join Picup Media
- Join a profitable, founder-led global company with strong momentum
- Help define QA practice for a new Design & Innovation Studio from the ground up
- Work directly with the Founder and CTO — no bureaucracy, real ownership
- Ship products used by professionals in over 20,000 businesses worldwide
- Own quality across a genuinely broad product surface — web, mobile, desktop, and hardware
- High autonomy, fast feedback loops, and visible impact
How to Apply
Send your CV and a short note covering:
- A product or feature you tested that shipped fast — what broke, what you caught, what you missed
- How you've used AI tools in your QA workflow
- Experience testing across multiple platforms or hardware-software systems
- The most interesting bug you've ever found
We care more about how you think about quality than how many certifications you hold.
