As the Sr Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing software and data platform components supporting the GE Aerospace Defense & Systems Customer Support & Sustainment space. You will be a member of a data platforms team delivering highly complex projects that require in-depth domain knowledge of software development and data engineering. This role will include developments of software using AWS Lambda, Java, or Python that reside in AWS and interface with the Palantir Foundry data platform.

Roles and Responsibilities

In This Role You Will

Work alongside a team of software and data engineers leveraging a Agile software development lifecycle
Develop software in the AWS cloud space that includes integrations with the GE Aerospace Palantir Foundry data platform
Develop software products used internally and externally by GE Aerospace Defense & Systems customers
Engage in technical discussions, contribute to technical designs and present technical ideas.
Maintain code quality through best practices and validation testing
Seek and provide feedback on design and development work
Help in designing interfaces and information exchange between modules
Articulate the need for scalability and understand the importance of improving quality through testing
Be an expert in writing code that meets standards and delivers the desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
Be an expert in core data structures and algorithms and can implement them using the required language
Be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 2 years of professional experience OR associate's degree with minimum of 5 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 7 years of professional experience
Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience

The base pay range for this position is $93,000- $155,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on June 12, 2025.

Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:

A minimum of 8+ years of experience developing cloud-based software leveraging Lambda, Java, and Python is required
Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles
Experience leveraging core AWS Services for development & deployment of cloud native & highly scalable solutions
Experience developing solutions integrated with the Palantir Foundry platform
Experience developing data ETL functions using Informatica
Experience developing data visualizations using Palantir Foundry and Spotfire
Experience with AWS based data lake tools such as Redshift
Experience leveraging AI to improve business process efficiency
Experience with ServiceNow
Experience contributing within an Agile framework leveraging Rally for sprint management

Business Acumen

Working knowledge of security and compliance considerations around CMMC, export control, and allowed use/access for government/military data
Experience working within the government and military customer space
Adept at navigating the organizational matrix; understanding people's roles, can foresee obstacles, identify workarounds, leverage resources and rally teammates
Understand how internal and/or external business model works and facilitate active customer engagement
Ability to consult with product owners and customers on alignment of outcomes and desired technical solutions at a product level
Understanding of how lean and ITIL can be applied in the software development space to improve processes and impact deliverables
Able to articulate the value of what is most important to the business/customer to achieve outcomes
Able to produce functional area information in sufficient detail for cross-functional teams to utilize, using presentation and storytelling concepts
Working knowledge of GE Aerospace Flightdeck principles including customer focus, standard work, action planning, and problem-solving a plus
