Job Summary
We’re looking for a Software Engineer with 3–7 years of experience to help develop, customize, and maintain our Learning Management System (LMS) platforms, primarily Canva.
You’ll be working with Ruby, the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), and modern frontend frameworks to improve platform performance and user experience.
You’ll join a highly technical team focused on delivering robust, scalable, and secure LMS solutions for the education sector.

Key Responsibilities
LMS Development & Customization
• Customize and maintain Canvas LMS platforms.
• Implement backend logic in Ruby.
• Develop user-facing features using React and Node.js.
• Tune performance for LAMP stack applications.
• Ensure LMS interfaces are mobile-friendly and cross-platform compatible.
System Integration & API Development
• Build and integrate RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Implement SSO and secure authentication (OAuth, SAML, JWT).
• Integrate third-party tools, payment systems, and analytics platforms.
Cloud & DevOps Implementation
• Deploy LMS solutions on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Use Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines for efficient deployments.
• Set up logging, monitoring, and alerts to ensure platform health.
Performance & Security Optimization
• Optimize MySQL and PostgreSQL performance.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Apply best practices for LMS security and data privacy compliance.
Collaboration & Documentation
• Work with cross-functional teams including analysts, designers, and QA.
• Write detailed technical documentation, API references, and deployment guides.
• Actively contribute to code reviews and Agile processes.

Required Skills & Experience
• 3–7 years in LMS development (Canvas, Moodle, OpenEdX).
• Strong skills in Ruby and LAMP stack technologies.
• Proven experience with plugin development and API integrations.
• Solid understanding of MySQL/PostgreSQL tuning and optimization.
• Experience with containerization and cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Knowledge of authentication standards: OAuth, SAML, JWT.
• Agile development experience.

• Experience with AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and microservices.
• Canvas-specific development (extensions, XBlocks).
