Role Overview
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead multiple engineering teams and step into a Project Manager role for key projects. You’ll ensure both technical excellence and project delivery as the company moves from vendor reliance to in-house capabilities. You’ll work closely with global leadership, scaling a bilingual engineering organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple engineering teams (internal + partners) to ensure high performance
- Act as Project Manager when needed, overseeing planning, scheduling, and delivery
- Ensure alignment between technical teams, business stakeholders, and vendors
- Foster a strong engineering culture while balancing delivery timelines and people management
- Collaborate with product, design, and business teams to define technical strategy
- Improve development processes using Agile methodologies
Requirements
- Language Skills: Fluent Japanese and Business-level English
- (You’ll work with a business team in Japanese and an engineering team primarily in English)
- Engineering Leadership: Experience managing engineering teams, hiring, and mentoring
- Technical Background: Solid software development or strong technical literacy (system architecture, APIs, cloud solutions)
- Project Management: Proven experience in project planning, scheduling, and stakeholder management; PMP or Scrum Master certification is a plus
- People Management: Track record in mentoring teams and balancing process and well-being
- Agile Development: Hands-on experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban)
Mindset & Culture Fit

- Build–Measure–Learn: Focus on learning cycles over heavy processes
Nice to Have
- Experience in SaaS development or digital product delivery
