One of our top clients, a Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime-listed technology company with more than 1,100 employees, is looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join its growing Data Center of Excellence (Data CoE), working closely with both Japanese and global teams on strategic Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI initiatives.

• This is a fully remote position that allows you to work from anywhere in Japan, with a salary of up to ¥9M JPY.
• For foreign employees, there is also the possibility of working remotely from their home country up to 6 Months / year.

About the Role

As a Senior Data Scientist within the Data Center of Excellence (Data CoE), you will lead and execute strategic data initiatives across the organization while working closely with both Japanese and global teams.

This is a broad senior-level role combining Data Science, Machine Learning, advanced analytics, Generative AI, and data strategy. You will take ownership of initiatives from problem definition and technical approach through implementation, evaluation, and business recommendations.

Current projects and initiatives include:

• Healthcare AI – Developing Machine Learning models for disease onset prediction and LLM-powered chatbots supporting continuous care, with solutions continuously improved based on user feedback and close collaboration with business teams.
• LLM Evaluation & MLOps – Investigating and building evaluation pipelines for different LLM tasks and establishing reliable approaches for evaluating and operating Generative AI solutions.
• Data Visualization & Decision Support – Developing analytics, visualization, and reporting solutions to improve access to critical business information and support decision-making.
• Data Platform & Governance – Improving data quality, standardizing metrics, strengthening operational processes, and supporting sustainable data management across the organization.
• Data Literacy & Utilization – Driving initiatives to improve data literacy and expand effective data utilization across different teams and business areas.

You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, Business, and Data teams across both the Japanese and global organization, while also contributing to technical standards and providing guidance to other Data Scientists.

You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and Business teams, delivering actionable insights, developing scalable analytical solutions, and helping establish best practices across analytics, Machine Learning, and data management.

Requirements

Must-have Skills

• 5+ years of professional experience in Data Science, Analytics, Machine Learning, or a closely related field

• Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Amazon Redshift

• Strong Python or R skills for data analysis and Machine Learning

• Strong understanding of statistics, experimentation, and analytical methodologies

• Hands-on experience developing and deploying Machine Learning models

• Ability to independently lead analytical projects from problem definition through analysis, implementation, and business recommendations

• Experience collaborating with both technical teams and business stakeholders

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Language Requirements

Japanese and English: Business level or above.
