We are looking for a Senior iOS Engineer at Futurae who will play a crucial role in building and evolving the mobile SDKs behind our cloud-based multi-factor authentication and fraud prevention platform.
Most of our iOS code doesn't ship as an app on the App Store — it ships inside the apps of banks and insurers, where it has to be small, silent and correct. A crash, a regression or a breaking API change lands in someone else's release cycle. You treat security, backwards compatibility and reliability as a personal standard of craft.
In this role it's not just about picking up tickets from a backlog. It's about the technical evolution of our mobile stack, spotting API and architectural risks before they reach a customer's production app, and making sure authentication works on the first try for millions of end users.
You will own the lifecycle of our iOS SDK, from public API design to the CI pipelines that build, sign and publish it. You will work closely with our backend, Android and QA teams, and with the client engineers who integrate our SDK into their apps.
Here we design for the future. To give some examples:
Requirements
Several years of experience in mobile development, with at least 3 years building production iOS applications or frameworks in Swift
Experience designing and maintaining a public API — an SDK, framework or library consumed by other engineers — or strong modularization work in a large codebase
Solid command of Swift concurrency (async/await, structured concurrency, GCD), memory management and thread safety
Hands-on experience with the Apple security stack: Keychain, Secure Enclave, LocalAuthentication and biometric flows
Experience with push notifications (APNs) and background execution modes
Deep understanding of RESTful API consumption, TLS and secure network communication
Strong understanding of authentication and authorization protocols including JWT/JWS
Proven experience with automated testing (XCTest), dependency injection and writing code that is testable and decoupled
Experience with iOS CI/CD: code signing, provisioning, automated build and release pipelines
Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, with good communication skills
A collaborative team player who embraces rapid technological change and a nimble startup culture
Bonus Skills
Knowledge of modern authentication standards including WebAuthn/FIDO2 and passkeys (AuthenticationServices)
Experience with App Attest / DeviceCheck, jailbreak detection or other device integrity and anti-tampering techniques
Experience distributing an SDK via Swift Package Manager, CocoaPods or XCFrameworks
Objective-C interoperability and support for legacy integrations
Experience with cross-platform bridges (React Native, Flutter, Capacitor)
Familiarity with WKWebView integration and its lifecycle pitfalls
Experience with automated testing on device clouds and real-device labs
Experience with cryptographic operations and secure token handling
Familiarity with Android/Kotlin, or an interest in keeping two platform SDKs behaviorally consistent
Benefits
Work with purpose and take ownership in an international team
Grow with a company where your ideas matter
Freedom to work remotely or at our Zurich HQ
Join our yearly company-wide event
Keep learning with a yearly education budget
Joint co-working days for remote teammates
