Role is on-site but can be based in either Colorado, California or New York.
I am currently working with a leading space and aerospace business developing next-generation spacecraft, flight systems, avionics, and mission-critical technologies that are shaping the future of space exploration and commercial space infrastructure.
We are looking for talented Embedded Software Engineers across Senior and Staff levels to join a high-performing engineering team building reliable software for systems where performance, safety, and mission success are critical.

The Role
As an Embedded Software Engineer, Senior Embedded Software Engineer, or Staff Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying embedded software across the full aerospace product lifecycle.
You will work closely with software, electrical, mechanical, systems, and mission teams to deliver highly reliable flight and embedded systems.
Key Responsibilities
⢠Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for spacecraft, avionics, and aerospace systems
⢠Develop high-reliability C/C++ software for embedded processors, ARM platforms, SoCs, RTOS, and Linux environments
⢠Work on flight software, hardware integration, verification, and system testing
⢠Develop software architecture, requirements, design documentation, and test strategies
⢠Debug complex hardware and software issues using industry-standard tools
⢠Support hardware-in-the-loop testing and flight qualification activities
⢠Analyse system performance and test data to improve reliability and capability
⢠Take ownership of challenging technical problems from concept through deployment
⢠Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver mission-critical systems
Required Experience
ā Professional experience developing embedded software
ā Strong C/C++ programming skills
ā Experience with embedded processors, microcontrollers, ARM, SoC, or FPGA-based platforms
ā Experience working with hardware interfaces such as SPI, I2C, CAN, UART, Ethernet, ADCs, timers, and interrupts
ā Experience debugging embedded hardware and software systems
ā Strong understanding of software development practices, testing, and reliability engineering
ā Ability to work independently and contribute within a highly technical team environment
Preferred Experience
ā Aerospace, spacecraft, aviation, defence, automotive, robotics, or other safety-critical systems
ā Flight software development
ā Embedded Linux and RTOS environments
ā DO-178C or other safety-critical software standards
ā CCSDS telemetry and command systems
ā cFS, Fā, or similar flight software frameworks
ā Hardware-in-the-loop testing
ā Python, Rust, MATLAB, or engineering automation tools
ā Electronics, sensors, controls, and actuator systems
Eligibility Requirements
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible to work on US export-controlled programmes and must hold either: US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency (Green Card)
