Machine Learning Engineer
Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to develop, deploy and enhance forecasting solutions within a growing technology environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, build and optimise machine learning models, with a particular focus on time-series forecasting.
- Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns and commercially useful insights.
- Evaluate model performance and introduce improvements to increase accuracy, reliability and scalability.
- Work with engineering colleagues to deploy models into production environments.
- Establish appropriate processes for model monitoring, retraining and ongoing maintenance.
- Translate technical outputs into clear recommendations for customers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure machine learning solutions align with business and customer requirements.
- Contribute to the development of engineering standards, tools and best practices as the team expands.
Experience Required
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist or closely related role.
- Demonstrable experience delivering multiple machine learning projects involving time-series forecasting.
- Strong knowledge of machine learning principles, statistical modelling and model evaluation techniques.
- Proficiency in Python and commonly used machine learning libraries.
- Experience preparing, processing and analysing structured datasets.
- Previous involvement in deploying or supporting machine learning models in production.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly to customers and business stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative technical team.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with MLOps practices, model monitoring and automated deployment pipelines.
- Knowledge of containerisation, orchestration or infrastructure automation tools.
- Experience working with computer vision models.
- Understanding of data engineering processes and scalable data pipelines.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing technical position.
- Interest in progressing towards a technical leadership or engineering management role.
Educational Requirements
- A third-level degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant technical subject would be beneficial but is not essential.
