Design at Formable isn’t a service; it’s a driver of product strategy. Like our engineers, designers here talk to users, make prioritization calls and own real product surface area. You’ll work closely with product‑minded engineers who appreciate strong UX and help bring prototypes to life. We’re async‑first and remote‑only, so clear communication and documentation are essential.

🪄 What you’ll do

• Build and iterate prototypes quickly. You’ll talk to customers when needed to understand the “why” behind the “what,” ship an MVP fast, and then dial up the quality.
• Design AI‑powered experiences. Partner with product and engineering to turn static forms into intelligent conversations. You’ll orchestrate flows that blend AI agents, real‑time data and human input, simplifying complex tasks and making them feel magical yet familiar.
• Shape product direction. Contribute to product strategy and decision‑making. You’ll lead end‑to‑end design projects—focusing on ideation through prototypes—and iterate quickly based on user feedback.
• Define our design system. Direct the development of a scalable design system that drives consistency, scalability and efficiency. Establish design principles that keep accessibility and quality at the core.
• Explore the frontiers of AI. Stay curious and adventurous with AI. You’ll test the capabilities and limitations of LLMs, brainstorm UX “unlocks” and translate technical possibilities into delightful interactions—even if you haven’t worked with AI before.

🤝 You might be our designer if…

• You’re autonomous and proactive. You take ownership, surface blockers early and don’t need heavy process to stay motivated.
• You’re a rapid prototyper. You’re comfortable sketching ideas as you are polishing them. You know when to ship something scrappy and when to level up the craft. You express ideas through visuals and prototypes, are comfortable with design tools like Figma and technical tools like Git or VS Code, and can bridge the gap between design and implementation.
• You’re curious about AI. Whether you’ve built AI products or are just starting, you’re eager to explore AI’s potential and limitations. You see AI as a tool to unlock friendlier, more efficient experiences.
• You love talking to customers. You understand user goals and pain points and can translate those insights into design decisions.
• You have early‑stage experience. Whether at a startup or through side projects, you can point to examples where you took a product from 0→1.
• You sweat the details that matter. You’re adept at interaction design, user‑centered principles and information architecture. You can quickly clock pixel‑level quality, layout, typography and visual harmony matter to you.
• You’re a clear, persuasive communicator. You leverage qualitative and quantitative research to inform decisions.
• You think in systems. You have an eye for good design systems, understand how they drive consistency and scalability, and can develop contributor models that encourage knowledge‑sharing.

🛠️ How we design (today)

• We move fast and prototype quickly. We leverage existing component libraries to validate product hypotheses and test new UX patterns before investing in a comprehensive design system. Part of this role will be determining the right time for that investment—helping us build a design system that accelerates rather than slows our progress.
• Our rituals are intentionally lightweight. We maintain short feedback loops and minimize process overhead. We use various tools to communicate ideas, embracing visual "vibe coding" techniques to express concepts efficiently. We iterate frequently, measure outcomes, and keep user empathy and craftsmanship at the center of every decision.
