We're hiring a Sr. UX UI Designer to join Ford and drive the vision, strategy, roadmap, build and implementation of Ford.com Web Design System.
We’re looking for someone that will take a systems mindset to build and integrate consistent, efficient components across the product portfolio.
You will design, document, and maintain libraries used by many product teams. You will also assist with the creation and implementation of resources, tools and documentation that support our design systems. Additionally, you will help build and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams across many product lines, business units, and regional teams.
Responsibilities
What you'll do…
- Contribute to the Ford.com web design system by designing and maintaining figma libraries.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of resources, tools, and documentation.
- Utilize your design expertise to balance web design standards alongside business goals, branding aesthetics, and marketing needs.
- Work with different teams of designers and developers to implement the design system in a consistent way across different tech stacks.
- Provide design guidance to internal and external teams around using components, shared patterns, and identify opportunities that can support recurring themes or use-cases.
- Responsibly and effectively advocate in a complex corporate environment; balancing the needs of our customer, our business goals, and the design system end-user.
- Conduct or participate in workshops/design audits that help drive our design system forward; while considering the Ford brand and the wider eco-system of products.
- Continuously engage with teams to drive adoption, consult, and provide support.
- Participate in ceremonies, present work, and report progress regularly to key stakeholders.
Qualifications
You'll have…
- Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, design, or computer science, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in a user experience design or digital web design role, either in-house or at an established agency supporting global brands.
- Design portfolio that highlights design systems you have contributed to; or a strong portfolio of work that demonstrates designing for end-to-end experiences, and contributing to multiple stages of product development lifecycles. (Please include portfolio password on résumé)
- Strong working knowledge of Figma components, variants, variables, collections, and modes.
- Excellent collaborative and problem-solving skills, and willingness to adapt and learn new technologies.
Even better, you may have…
- Great skill or mastery of Figma components, variants, variables, collections, and modes.
- Understanding of modern front-end technologies and frameworks.
- Basic knowledge of markdown, html and css, and familiarity with basic git operations.
- Experience with conforming to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Experience designing for consumer auto experiences, dealer experiences, storefronts, e-commerce, or financing workflows.
- Ability to create interactive experiences with prototyping software that can support user testing or proof of concepts.
- Experience working and collaborating with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid-growth environment.
- Desire to thrive in a fast-moving environment.
