About the Role**
The System Administrator provides hands-on support to ensure the stability, security, and performance of client systems. This role focuses on assessing and onboarding new clients and major upgrades to existing clients’ IT infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments. This role also takes an active role in transitioning clients from Onboarding to support and provides backup to support teams as needed. Working under the guidance of senior IT staff, you’ll gain exposure to enterprise tools and technologies while developing your skills in system administration and IT service delivery. While primarily remote, occasional onsite visits (about once per quarter) may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support onboarding and implementation activities for new clients or environments
- Provide daily support for client environments during the onboarding phase, including user accounts, permissions, and system access
- Assist in the administration of Microsoft Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments
- Support and troubleshoot Windows Server, Active Directory, and Office 365 issues
- Perform patching, system monitoring, and backup verification tasks
- Assist with administration of enterprise tools including Microsoft, Cisco, Mimecast, SentinelOne, and ThreatLocker
- Document support activities, system changes, and troubleshooting steps
- Respond to Tier 1 and Tier 2 helpdesk tickets as needed throughout onboarding; escalate to senior staff, as needed
- Participate in deployment and configuration of PCs, applications, and cloud services
- Learn and apply best practices for system security and compliance (including HIPAA and HITRUST requirements)
- Facilitate the transition of clients from Onboarding to Support and provide backup for support teams as necessary
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of experience in IT support or system administration
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Office 365 administration
- Basic knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and networking fundamentals
- Exposure to enterprise security tools (antivirus, email security, endpoint protection)
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and grow into more advanced roles
Preferred Skills
- Experience with ConnectWise or similar RMM/PSA platforms
- Exposure to scripting (PowerShell) or automation tools
- Familiarity with virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V)
- Understanding of ITIL practices and ticketing workflows
- Bonus: Experience with client onboarding and implementation projects, and MSP environments
