The Opportunity

Flock Safety is looking for an Android Applications Engineer III to join our Device Software team. We don’t build typical consumer apps; we build the intelligence behind a 100,000+ device headless fleet that operates 24/7 in the real world.

You’ll be a core contributor to our growth, expanding our LPR capabilities. This isn't just about code—it's about owning the reliability of hardware at scale. From optimizing image pipelines to integrating on-device ML, your work directly translates to solving crime and building safer communities.

The Skillset

• Experience developing Android native apps/services in Kotlin
• Experience building and shipping Android apps on custom hardware
• Possess strong debug skills and experience with Android debugging tools
• Proven ability to develop, test, and deploy new features in a pragmatic way
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Git

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with Android Camera2
• Experience with Kotlin Flows
• Experience working with Android NDK

90 Days at Flock

We subscribe to 90-day plans and believe that good days lead to good weeks, which lead to good months. This serves as a preview of the 90-day plan you will receive if you are hired as an Android Framework Engineer at Flock Safety.

The First 30 Days

• Learn as much as possible about Flock's devices, cloud systems, and customer requirements.
• Familiarize yourself with members of the Engineering Team.
• Understand Flock's device product goals and system design.

The First 60 Days

• Contribute to system app development.
• Contribute to system services development.
• Improve and expand the tools and services available to other engineers.

90 Days & Beyond

• Become a key contributor to our system apps and services.
• Be a key contributor in developing new products and the next generation of our platform.
• Play a central role in streamlining code to ensure it supports multiple platforms.

💰Salary & Equity: In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary of $130,000-$160,000 as well as stock options
