The Opportunity

Flock Safety is seeking a talented Product Designer to join the growing product design team. As a new member, you’ll design new experiences that delight our customers and help eliminate crime.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional product design skills that are user-centered and the technical knowledge to tackle complex customer problems while collaborating with other designers, engineers, and product managers. You will focus on designing for web, mobile, and responsive design, ensuring a holistic user experience.

The Role

Your main priority will be supporting design for the Investigate experience. Secondary priorities will involve supporting design initiatives across Real Time, FlockOS, Admin, CVID, and Mobile, collaborating closely with other designers, stakeholders, and customers to understand problems, iterate on thoughtful solutions, and validate designs through user testing and prototyping.

You will join the Law Enforcement Customer Experience Team at Flock. This role reports to the Director of Product Design and is a key member of the Design Team. This position is based out of your home office, with minimal travel required.

The Skillset

How you’ll make an impact:

• Design thoughtful experiences across platforms.
• Support the design of Nova and contribute to initiatives for advanced search, mobile, and real-time features.
• Help expand the Flock Design Library by creating components and usage guidelines.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders and customers to define, iterate, and validate designs through user research and testing.
• Create prototypes for testing and set up user interviews and usability tests.
• Support UX Reviews and ensure the design process remains efficient and aligned with development timelines.
• Help prevent design bottlenecks by ensuring that the design process is streamlined and does not impede project timelines.
• Champion user-centered design practices grounded in research, customer insights, user journeys, testing, and prototyping.
• Produce high-quality work in a fast-paced, complex, and sometimes ambiguous environment, juggling multiple competing priorities without compromising quality.
• Humility, curiosity, and a passion for sharing knowledge.

We’re Looking For People Who

• Minimum 3+ years of cross-platform UX/UI design experience (Web, Android, iOS).
• Formal training in design or similar (Graphic Design, HCI, Interactive Design, Communications, Industrial Design, Computer Science, etc.).
• Experience with design systems, libraries, and style guides; knowledge of atomic design and design for development is a plus.
• Outstanding visual design and UI skills, with a focus on pixel perfection (color, layouts, iconography, typography).
• Expert knowledge in prototyping and ideation tools; Figma mastery is a must.
• Knowledge of design methodologies in user research and testing.
• Ability to give and receive design feedback constructively and work well in cross-functional teams.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• A high-quality portfolio showcasing both web and mobile products, with an emphasis on mobile and responsive design.

_90 Days at Flock

The First 30 Days

• Build relationships across the Investigate pod (PM, Eng, Design) and partner teams (CSMs, Solutions Consultants).
• Get to know the design team through 1:1s and participation in team rituals.
• Shadow at least three customer-facing sessions across DDI, Real-Time, and Mobile.
• Review the backlog, Nova and Search initiatives, and familiarize yourself with roadmaps and in-flight projects.
• Dive into DDI metrics, user insights, open tickets, and complete a scoped "Push of the Week" contribution.
• Learn the Design System and Playbook, join team rituals, and suggest an improvement.

The First 60 Days

• Build trust and consistent communication within the Investigate team; share perspective in design critiques and cross-functional forums.
• Co-present user insights with PMs and establish a mentorship relationship with a senior designer.
• Contribute wireframes, flows, and UI for Nova or Search feature; visualize concepts across fidelities for feedback.
• Scope or refine new work based on user or product insights; identify an improvement to the design library.
• Support or lead documentation for a key flow or component; begin annotating and organizing files for handoff.
• Conduct a usability test with a senior designer and identify one opportunity to improve documentation or team process.

90 Days & Beyond

• You are the go-to design partner for DDI, with strong cross-functional relationships and clear communication channels.
• You’ve contributed to a major redesign or feature (e.g., Nova or Advanced Search), and your work has shipped or been validated through customer feedback.
• You’ve helped shape roadmap conversations by bringing a clear, user-centered design perspective.
• You’ve contributed to the design system and design library, enhancing consistency across the platform.
• You’ve co-led documentation or testing strategy for a feature and taken initiative on internal improvements (e.g., usability patterns).
• You support and help facilitate key design rituals and planning processes, ensuring design is integrated into team workflows.

Salary & Equity

In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $125,000 and $150,000 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options.
