Senior C++ Engineer (Core Electronic Trading)

We’re looking for a Senior C++ Engineer to join a team developing the core trading platform for a leading global electronic trading company.

This is a backend C++ role at the heart of the trading system, where actual trades are processed. The platform handles incoming market and trading messages, transaction processing, and trading workflows such as RFQ, click-to-trade, and list trading.

You’ll be joining a mature, highly complex system that has evolved over many years. The focus is not on building another greenfield service from scratch, but on understanding complex production systems, improving performance, debugging difficult issues, and continuously evolving business-critical trading infrastructure.

Location: Poland, Portugal, Spain, Cyprus, Georgia (remote/hybrid).

What you’ll be working on

  • Developing and enhancing core electronic trading systems in C++
  • Processing trading messages and transaction flows
  • Improving latency, throughput, and overall system performance
  • Profiling applications and identifying performance bottlenecks
  • Debugging complex production issues and performing root-cause analysis
  • Working with multithreaded and concurrent systems
  • Working with networking and high-throughput data flows
  • Navigating and improving a large, mature C++ codebase
  • Implementing new trading functionality and improving existing components
  • Using modern AI development tools to analyze code, accelerate debugging, and navigate complex systems

What we’re looking for

  • 8+ years of professional C++ development experience
  • Strong modern C++ knowledge (C++14/17/20)
  • Strong knowledge of STL, data structures, OOP, multithreading and concurrency
  • Experience with electronic trading, trading systems, HFT or other financial markets technology
  • Experience with performance-sensitive or low-latency systems
  • Strong debugging and profiling skills
  • Solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP
  • Experience working with large and complex production codebases
  • Strong understanding of algorithms and computational complexity
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Strong English communication skills

Particularly relevant experience

We’d especially like to hear from engineers who have worked with:

  • Electronic trading platforms
  • HFT systems
  • Market data
  • Exchange connectivity
  • Order management and execution systems
  • FIX or other trading protocols
  • RFQ / request-for-quote systems
  • Pricing or trading engines
  • Fixed Income or Derivatives
  • Low-latency financial infrastructure

Nice to have

  • SQL and relational databases
  • Experience with Fixed Income markets
  • Quantitative or pricing systems
  • Python
  • Experience using Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or similar tools as part of an engineering workflow

This role may not be the best fit if your recent experience is primarily focused on

  • Game development
  • Embedded development
  • General enterprise backend without performance-sensitive systems
  • Frontend or application development
  • C++ development without exposure to financial/trading systems

Working hours

The engineering team works closely with colleagues in New York, so you should be comfortable with at least 4–5 hours of overlap with US Eastern Time. Longer overlap may be helpful during onboarding.

Benefits

  • Flexible work setup: remote or hybrid
  • Health insurance coverage for employees based in Poland and Cyprus
  • 50% coverage of health insurance for spouses and children in Poland and Cyprus
  • 24 days of paid vacation
  • 10 days of paid sick leave
  • 50% reimbursement for professional training, education and conferences
  • Relocation assistance to Poland or Cyprus
  • Flight tickets and first-month accommodation for relocated employees and their immediate family
  • Visa, entry permit and residence permit support
