About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Software Engineer to join our team in Palm Bay, FL. This role involves working on cutting-edge embedded computing systems supporting the development and integration of mission-critical hardware and software for defense applications. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of embedded systems in support of the F-15 Aviate Navigate Communicate (ANC) and Mission Processor (MP) programs. This position offers an opportunity to work with advanced technologies in a collaborative environment, supporting key national security initiatives. The role requires close coordination with cross-functional engineering teams to develop interfaces between hardware and software components, ensuring operational performance and system reliability.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree with at least four years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with a minimum of two years of experience. Alternatively, candidates with a minimum of eight years of prior related experience without a degree are also considered. Preferred qualifications include experience with embedded security and encryption, safety-critical software development adhering to industry standards such as DO-178 B or above, and a background in complex mission computing systems. Candidates should have strong proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Bash scripting, along with familiarity with embedded systems design, real-time operating systems like VxWorks, LynxOS, or Integrity, and network protocols such as Gigabit Ethernet or InfiniBand. Additional skills include hardware/software integration, test automation, and experience working within avionics lifecycle processes. Security clearance eligibility, specifically a Secret US Security Clearance, is required.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for developing software solutions primarily in C/C++ and Python, supporting the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to testing and deployment. Responsibilities include designing and implementing embedded software components, developing interfaces between hardware and software, and supporting system integration efforts. The engineer will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to evaluate system interfaces, operational performance, and security features. They will also support customer deployments, participate in design reviews, and contribute to system architecture and software architecture documentation. Additionally, the role involves supporting hardware and software integration testing, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The candidate may be required to travel to customer sites, such as in St. Louis, MO, for program meetings or technical support, particularly if holding a software leadership position.
