The Opportunity

A growing technology-driven organisation is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its engineering team, helping to deliver and enhance a suite of business-critical financial and billing platforms.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role where you'll be involved in the design, development, integration and support of large-scale applications that process high volumes of transactional and financial data. You'll work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to build scalable, secure and resilient solutions while driving engineering best practices across the development lifecycle.

We're particularly interested in speaking with Software Engineers who have experience developing financial systems, billing platforms, payment solutions, revenue management systems or other transaction-heavy enterprise applications.

The role is fully remote, although candidates should be based in Scotland, as they will be travelling to Perth occasionally.

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing, developing and enhancing business-critical software applications.
• Building scalable, high-performance solutions using modern cloud-based technologies.
• Working across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through to deployment and support.
• Collaborating with product, business and technology teams to deliver new features and improvements.
• Supporting system integrations, APIs and data flows across multiple platforms.
• Contributing to architectural decisions and technical roadmaps.
• Troubleshooting complex production issues and performing root cause analysis.
• Driving improvements in performance, security, resilience and maintainability.
• Supporting platform modernisation and cloud transformation initiatives.
• Championing engineering best practices, automated testing and CI/CD.

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience as a Software Engineer, Senior Software Engineer or Full Stack Developer.
• Expertise developing enterprise-scale applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience building REST APIs and microservices architectures.
• Strong front-end development experience using Angular and TypeScript.
• Experience working with SQL databases and complex data models.
• Knowledge of cloud-native development and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience with system integrations and data-intensive applications.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Highly Desirable Experience

We're particularly interested in candidates who have worked on:

• Financial systems
• Billing platforms
• Payment processing systems
• Revenue management solutions
• ERP or finance applications
• Utility sector platforms
• Banking or financial services applications
• Large-scale transaction processing systems

Experience working in highly regulated environments would also be beneficial.
