As a Senior Data Scientist, you will focus on advancing AI-driven solutions across the clinical research ecosystem. This role centers on optimizing, fine-tuning, and operationalizing large language models (LLMs) and other advanced machine learning models to enhance decision-making, improve data insights, and drive business impact. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, translating real-world research and operational challenges into scalable, model-driven solutions. The position offers the opportunity to shape and deploy innovative AI/ML solutions, contribute to evaluation frameworks, and ensure compliance and interpretability in regulated environments. It combines technical rigor, applied research, and strategic problem-solving within a collaborative, fast-paced, and mission-driven environment.
Accountabilities
- Optimize, fine-tune, and operationalize large language models (LLMs) and domain-specific ML models to improve precision, recall, and contextual relevance.
- Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems and other AI/ML solutions that enhance product functionality and user experience.
- Collaborate with data engineering, product, and domain teams to translate research challenges into scalable model-driven solutions.
- Evaluate model performance using key metrics, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure model fairness, transparency, and compliance.
- Develop and maintain pipelines for training, evaluation, and deployment using Databricks, MLflow, and Delta Lake.
- Document methodologies, validation results, and best practices to support reproducibility, audit readiness, and internal governance.
- Stay current on advancements in LLMs, RAG, and multi-modal learning to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Requirements
- MS in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and fine-tuning ML or LLM models.
- Expertise in Python and commercial ML frameworks such as PyTorch.
- Experience with embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and the ML lifecycle.
- Hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting workflows in Databricks for data engineering and ML projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred
- PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience in fast-paced applied research environments with iterative experimentation.
- Familiarity with causal inference, simulation modeling, or graph-based reasoning in clinical or biomedical research.
- Hands-on fluency in Databricks notebooks and workflow orchestration.
- A mindset of continuous learning, bridging experimental work with high-value product applications.
