We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Node.js) to join our client’s team. This role focuses on backend development and shaping the architecture and strategy behind our client’s scalable, user-centric platform. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to design robust backend systems, improve data flow performance, and lead engineering best practices—while mentoring others and contributing to a culture of technical excellence.

Our client is a German startup working on a fast-growing online auction platform that connects car dealers across Europe. By leveraging advanced technology and data-driven insights, they provide a seamless and efficient marketplace for buying and selling vehicles. Our client ensures the seamless operation of digital processes in the automotive industry and develops new, innovative solutions for the B2B sector.

Requirements

5+ years of extensive experience in backend development focused on building scalable, high-performance applications
Native proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, with experience in Angular and PostgreSQL
Proven ability to coach and mentor other engineers, promoting best practices and knowledge-sharing within the team
Skills in using tools such as Git, Docker, and CI pipelines to ensure development efficiency
Familiarity with Scrum or Kanban frameworks, using tools like JIRA and Confluence
Ability to work independently and eager to grow into managerial or architectural roles over time

Nice to Have

Conversational German skills
Experience in the automotive industry

English level

Drive backend system design and development with a strong focus on scalability and performance
Collaborate on technical and product requirements, define CI/CD processes, and establish coding standards
Provide architectural direction and lead technology evaluations and decisions
Guide and mentor engineers through technical challenges and growth opportunities
Facilitate technical discussions, team sessions, and ongoing code reviews
Help improve team workflows and agile development practices
