Description
As an Analytical Engineer at Exactius, you will bridge the gap between raw data and business insights. You will be responsible for transforming data into accessible, reliable, and well-documented datasets that power strategic decision-making for digital marketing, growth, and product teams. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and marketers to ensure the right data is available, accurate, and actionable.
You will also be responsible for maintaining and optimizing existing data pipelines to ensure reliability, scalability, and long-term performance.
Responsibilities
- Own the transformation layer: develop, document, and maintain dbt models and semantic layers.
- Partner with analysts and stakeholders to translate business logic into SQL and reusable data models.
- Implement data quality checks, tests, and documentation across all datasets.
- Monitor and optimize data workflows, ensuring performance and scalability.
- Maintain and improve existing data pipelines to ensure long-term reliability and performance.
- Define and maintain naming conventions, modeling standards, and analytics engineering best practices.
- Create source-of-truth data marts for KPIs, attribution, funnel analysis, LTV, retention, and marketing performance.
- Help build and scale internal BI tools (e.g. Looker, Metabase, or Tableau) by creating reusable datasets.
- Work with Data Engineers to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and ensure smooth data ingestion and modeling.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a data or analytics engineering role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with modern transformation tools like dbt.
- Experience with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.
- Proficient with version control systems (e.g. Git), Github and CI/CD workflows.
- Comfortable working across development, staging, and production environments, following best practices for deployment and testing.
- Familiarity with data architecture patterns such as bronze/silver/gold (medallion architecture).
- Solid understanding of data modeling, data testing, and documentation best practices.
- Experience with ELT tools such as Fivetran, Airbyte, Rivery, or Integrate.io.
- Proficiency in Python for scripting or data transformation tasks.
- Familiarity with data orchestration tools like Airflow or Prefect.
Nice to Have
- Understanding of digital marketing metrics (CPC, ROAS, LTV, CAC, funnel metrics).
- Experience with event-based tracking data and tools like Segment or GA4.
- Familiarity with visualization tools (Looker, Metabase, Tableau).
