Senior Aerospace Software Engineer – Backend-Leaning Full Stack

Location: Remote within the United States

We are partnering with a growing aerospace software and engineering company to hire a Senior Aerospace Software Engineer. You will join a close-knit services team supporting mission-critical government and commercial space programs.

This is a developer-first role for someone who combines strong software fundamentals with practical space-domain experience. You will take ownership of an existing development workstream, become a trusted technical resource for the program, and contribute to internal products and future customer projects.

The work is expected to be approximately 70% backend and 30% frontend. The current environment includes Python, C/C++, Node.js, Angular, and React, but the team values engineering fundamentals and learning agility more than an exact technology match.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain backend-heavy, full-stack aerospace applications.
• Take ownership of an existing program and grow into its development subject-matter expert.
• Build reliable software supporting space-mission, ground-system, and operational workflows.
• Contribute across design, development, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Work with internal engineers, prime contractors, partner developers, and technical customers.
• Translate operational and customer requirements into effective software solutions.
• Support internal development and additional government or commercial programs.
• Balance multiple projects and adapt as priorities evolve within a small team.

What We’re Looking For

• Approximately five or more years of professional software-development experience.
• Strong software-engineering fundamentals and experience delivering production-quality applications.
• Backend development strength with some frontend capability.
• Professional experience with Python and one or more additional languages.
• Experience working across APIs, databases, cloud-hosted applications, or distributed systems.
• Practical experience within the space or satellite industry.
• Familiarity with space-mission, spacecraft-operations, ground-system, simulation, TT&C, or flight-dynamics workflows.
• Ability to independently learn an existing system and assume meaningful technical ownership.
• Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with external engineering teams and customers.
• Willingness to wear multiple hats and work beyond a narrowly defined job description.
