Position Overview:

We're looking for an experienced mid-level WordPress Developer to join our Legal Marketing agency. The WordPress Developer is responsible for independently developing and maintaining WordPress websites with custom functionality. This role requires solid experience in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS/SASS, with the ability to build custom themes and plugins while ensuring performance, accessibility, and SEO best practices. The developer will collaborate across teams and support junior developers, while continuing to strengthen technical and problem-solving skills.

Position Responsibilities:

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Build and customize WordPress themes and plugins from scratch
  • Convert design mockups into pixel-perfect, responsive websites
  • Develop dynamic functionality using PHP and JavaScript
  • Optimize websites for speed, performance, and SEO
  • Ensure mobile responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility
  • Perform code reviews for junior developers and provide mentorship
  • Implement integrations with APIs and third-party tools
  • Manage deployments and troubleshoot hosting issues on platforms such as WP Engine
  • Maintain and improve existing websites based on client and SEO needs

Cross-Functional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, and SEO specialists to deliver solutions
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior developers
  • Support internal teams with questions or technical issues related to development

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • English speaking and writing fluency required
  • 3+ years of experience in web development, with at least 1-2 years focused on WordPress
  • Proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and SASS
  • Experience in ACF Pro, Gravity Forms, Yoast, and CPT
  • Familiarity with WordPress core functions and architecture
  • Experience with Git/version control workflows
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug efficiently
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior developers
  • Clear and effective communication across teams
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality work
  • Proactive, adaptable, and collaborative mindset
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with managed hosting platforms like WP Engine, Kinsta, or Flywheeel
  • Understanding of SEO best practices in web development
  • Knowledge of website performance testing tools (e.g., PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix)
  • Experience integrating Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or similar tool
