Sensors Systems / Software Engineer - Digital Signal Processing / Python

Our client is a global leader in semiconductor and mobile technology and they are looking for a Sensors Systems / Software Engineer to join their Cork team. This is a permanent role focused on data platforms, sensor systems, and dataset engineering.

Please note - this role can be 100% remote from within Ireland

The role:

You will develop and maintain the team's data collection platform, support global data collection campaigns, and manage datasets spanning physical and virtual sensor streams, location data, and radio scans across smartphones, wearables, AR/XR glasses, and IoT devices. You will work closely with algorithm and feature development teams worldwide.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop, validate, and maintain the sensor data collection platform
• Support and manage global data collection campaigns using mobile and wearable devices
• Analyse, label, and generate metrics for multi-sensor datasets including IMU, GNSS, Wi-Fi, BLE, and cellular data
• Create and maintain training, validation, and test datasets for algorithm development
• Maintain sensor characterisation equipment in Cork, including rate tables and drop-test rigs

Required skills and experience:

• BSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 2+ years of systems engineering or related experience
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems, physical sensors, wireless radios, or location technologies
• Applied knowledge of digital signal processing, probability, and statistics
• Strong Python skills including professional use of Pandas
• Working knowledge of MATLAB for data analysis
• Experience creating and managing ML datasets with partial or full workflow automation
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Nice to have skills;

• MSc degree in a relevant discipline
• Familiarity with MEMS inertial, environmental, or physiological sensors and characterisation equipment
• Experience with Android, Linux Embedded, Wear OS, iOS, or Android XR platforms
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Familiarity with Microsoft Graph or SharePoint APIs
