Lead Software Engineer – Oncology AI
Location: United States (Remote or California preferred)
Established Search has partnered with a pioneering international Precision Medicine company at the forefront of AI-driven oncology solutions. Their mission is to transform cancer diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes through advanced artificial intelligence and precision medicine technologies.
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to play a critical role in designing, developing and scaling next-generation Oncology AI platforms. This individual will work across cross-functional teams including data science, clinical and product teams to build robust, high-performance systems that directly impact cancer care innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development and maintenance of scalable, production-grade AI/ML software systems for oncology applications.
- Oversee end-to-end engineering processes including architecture, coding standards, testing frameworks, deployment and performance optimisation.
- Collaborate closely with data scientists, researchers and product teams to translate clinical and AI models into reliable, user-facing platforms.
- Drive technical decision-making, mentor engineering teams and contribute to long-term platform strategy.
- Integrate AI pipelines, imaging systems, and data-processing tools within cloud-based infrastructures.
- Ensure software quality, security, and compliance with healthcare and regulatory requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex technical challenges across data, infrastructure and application layers.
- Contribute to technical roadmaps, documentation and best engineering practices across the organisation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a senior or lead capacity.
- Strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Go, Java or C++.
- Experience building distributed systems, cloud architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerised environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Background in AI/ML engineering, medical imaging, digital health or healthcare technology highly desirable.
- Familiarity with MLOps pipelines, data pipelines, or deploying ML models into production.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make strategic technical decisions.
