Job Description

Meet the Team

You will join the Automated Systems and Solutions Department in Brno or Bratislava. The team works closely with malware researchers and analysts to build and maintain systems that process massive volumes of incoming files, support threat detection, and power ESET's threat intelligence capabilities. Working in a collaborative and highly technical environment, you will have the opportunity to contribute to both existing products and entirely new solutions.

About The Role

As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and improve systems that support ESET's automated cybersecurity operations. You will work on scalable services, automation frameworks, and data processing solutions while collaborating with experienced engineers, researchers, and analysts to solve complex technical challenges.

  • Develop and continuously improve internal tools supporting malware researchers and detection technologies.
  • Design and implement scalable systems for processing and classifying large volumes of files.
  • Build and maintain scanning services and automation solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of ESET's threat intelligence products.
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain high-quality engineering standards.
  • Collaborate on system architecture design and optimization activities.
  • Automate processes to improve operational efficiency and system reliability.
  • Take ownership of projects from initial concept through implementation and deployment.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative cybersecurity solutions.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve systems, tools, and development processes.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in Python development with strong knowledge of Python and data processing.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with Redis.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux & Windows environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices (Jenkins, GitLab).
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Good communication skills in English.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with Kafka and distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of C#.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Familiarity with object storage technologies.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity, network security, or malware analysis concepts.
  • Exposure to reverse engineering techniques.
  • Experience designing scalable and high-performance backend services.
  • Passion for automation and process optimization.

Additional Information

Basic wage component (Bratislava): from 2500 EUR/month (brutto)

  • The final basic wage component can be increased accordingly to individual skills and experience of the selected candidate.

  • Financial bonus based on performance paid twice a year up to 15% from the base salary paid during the evaluation period (normally 6 months).
