Responsibilities

Design Execution

• Conceptualize and create high-fidelity web and mobile interfaces using Figma that bring complex data to life.
• Collaborate closely with product, data science, and engineering teams to build user-centric designs that simplify the complexities of AI-driven simulations.
• Own the end-to-end design process, from wireframes and prototypes to final polished graphics.

Data Visualization & Interaction

• Develop compelling, interactive visualizations (particularly temporal geospatial data) that help users understand simulation results and insights.
• Translate abstract or complex datasets into intuitive dashboards, charts, and maps.

Brand Vision & Strategy

• Define and maintain design standards, style guides, and patterns that ensure consistency across the platform.
• Shape the visual identity of Epistemix, influencing everything from in-product graphics to marketing collateral.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work hand-in-hand with cross-functional teams to align design initiatives with company objectives and product roadmap.
• Advocate for a user-first approach in all business discussions, ensuring designs elevate user satisfaction and success.

Leadership & Growth

• As the first designer, build a foundation for a growing design team and help mentor future hires.
• Pioneer best practices in design thinking, rapid prototyping, and iterative feedback loops.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience designing high-impact web and/or mobile interfaces.
• Proven ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and final designs in Figma.
• A portfolio showcasing a strong sense of visual design, typography, and layout, with emphasis on complex data or analytics-based products.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Required Skills

• Figma – Advanced proficiency in creating interactive prototypes, design systems, and style guides.
• Data Visualization – Expertise in visualizing complex datasets, with specific experience or strong interest in temporal and geospatial data.
• Interaction Design – Ability to create fluid user flows, dynamic user interfaces, and engaging micro-interactions.
• User Research & Testing – Familiarity with user-centered design methods, including usability testing and iterative feedback.

Desired Skills

• Temporal Geospatial Experience – Familiarity with mapping libraries (e.g., Mapbox, Leaflet) or geospatial data tools.
• Front-End Knowledge – Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (or frameworks) for collaborating with developers.
• Animation & Micro-Interactions – Experience with tools like Framer, After Effects, or advanced prototyping for sophisticated data-driven animations.
• Data Storytelling – Ability to structure narratives around data findings, driving user comprehension and engagement.
