AI Software Engineer

We're looking for an AI Software Engineer to join our team in Portugal in a remote working mode. In this role, you will design and maintain AI applications, develop reliable data pipelines, and ensure optimal performance of AI systems. You will work closely with clients to implement cutting-edge LLM-driven solutions and stay ahead of industry trends by leveraging the latest AI technologies to deliver robust and business-focused outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain AI applications such as chatbots, Q&A platforms and agent workflows
• Collaborate with clients to understand requirements and recommend AI-driven strategies
• Develop and manage data pipelines, prompt strategies and datasets to optimize model accuracy
• Evaluate and refine AI system performance to ensure accuracy, security, scalability and compliance
• Conduct research and rapid prototyping to validate technical feasibility and demonstrate business impact
• Stay current with LLM technologies, frameworks and methodologies to continuously enhance solutions

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in AI engineering and delivering ML-based solutions
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with web frameworks like FastAPI
• Knowledge of the AI application development lifecycle
• Experience building rapid UI prototypes using tools like Streamlit or Gradio
• Familiarity with major LLM platforms and APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock, Gemini) and related frameworks (LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Strands Agents)
• Understanding of advanced AI integration patterns such as RAG and agents-based architectures
• Experience deploying AI solutions at scale with a focus on performance and cost-efficiency
• Ability to evaluate generative AI quality using retrieval and classification metrics, and LLM evaluation techniques
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and excellent communication abilities
• Upper-intermediate English level (B2+)

Nice to have

• Experience designing experiments, conducting A/B testing and iterating on models based on feedback
• Knowledge of retrieval systems (keyword and vector search) and ranking algorithms
• Familiarity with emerging AI protocols (MCP, A2A, ACP)
• Experience deploying solutions to cloud AI platforms (Azure OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, GCP Vertex AI) or on-premises (e.g., vLLM)
• Exposure to enterprise AI platforms such as AWS AgentCore, Databricks AgentBricks, Google Agents Space or Azure AI Foundry
• Experience with observability and monitoring frameworks for AI systems
