- Build and maintain data-driven backend services, APIs, pipelines, and scheduled jobs
- Design and operate small to mid-size production systems with clear interfaces and monitoring
- Improve reliability through code reviews, testing, observability, and incremental refactoring
- Collaborate closely with our CTO, data scientist, cloud infrastructure specialist, and project manager; coordinate with part-time engineers as needed
What you bring
- Strong Python engineering skills (architecture, modular code, tests)
- Experience writing production-ready software
- Experience with backend services and APIs
- Experience with Git in a professional team setting
- Solid understanding of deployment, monitoring, and reliability
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting
- You are based in or close to Germany, Austria or Switzerland
Nice to have (not required)
- PHP development and refactoring skills
- JavaScript and some frontend experience
- Experience with ClickHouse or other analytical databases
- Familiarity with orchestrators like Prefect, Airflow, Dagster
- Experience in energy, IoT, or data-intensive products
- German speaking
