(Workers’ Compensation Insurance) | 100% Remote Opportunity

General Summary

The Project Manager (PM) III is responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and motivating medium to large sized agile project teams to achieve project and product delivery objectives within EMPLOYERS a Workers’ Compensation Insurance carrier. The PM III will possess the skills to effectively mobilize teams and structure projects using EMPLOYERS Project Management Process (PMP) and Agile SDLC methods and effectively introduce industry and developing practices to optimize delivery performance. The PM III will be skilled in defining success criteria and leading teams in a complex environment to achieve business objectives.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Project/Product Management – Participate and lead Demand Management processes to define projects, estimate budgets, and facilitated prioritization. Effectively mobilize project teams from basic objective information. Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; create and facilitate executive tollgates to align strategic objectives with agile team product release plans, organize and lead project status and working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned projects. Consistently achieves business value, timely and cost effectively.
  • Scrum Master – be the servant-leader for the team to ensure the team lives the agile values and principles and follows the processes and practices the team has agreed to utilize. Be the team coach and facilitator to remove blockers for effective product releases. Build effective relationships with resource managers to optimize team member participation.
  • Resource Management – Plan and manage the team structure and resource allocation plan, forecast, and actuals to support the delivery of assigned work. Lead resource managers, PMO process coordinator, and program managers to identify and resolve staffing issues. May acquire and manage one or more resources.
  • Procurement – Manage the project financial plan and facilitate the purchases and acquisitions between vendor relationship managers and procurement, and ensure procurement policies and processes are utilized. Provide expertise and guidance and recommendations to ensure accurate financial treatment of purchases. Can effectively negotiate favorable pricing.
  • Vendor Management – Plan and manage vendor activities to support project and agile product delivery and effectively manage vendor relationship issues. Effectively negotiates contracts and statements of work.
  • Continuous Improvement – Contributes to and leads department process and tool improvements with the ability to define success criteria and demonstrate results.

Requirements Background And Experience/Expertise

  • 8-12 Years in an IT Software delivery field
  • Advanced leadership skills to organize, motivate, and lead medium to large size project or product teams
  • Advanced planning skills to mobilize teams, confirm scope, plan resources, establish release schedules and plans, and manage a financial budget for medium to large sized project or product delivery teams.
  • Advanced analytical skills to assess processes, systems, scope, requirements, and teams and organize thoughts and ideas utilizing analytic techniques.
  • Advanced presentation and communications skills to create impactful presentations, facilitate project leadership and team meetings, effectively document and communicate risks and issues, and provide project and product status updates. Effectively communicates with the Executive Sponsors, Project Sponsors, Business Leaders, Product Owners, IT Service Owners, Stakeholders, Vendors and team members.
  • Recognized as an agile practitioner leader who is as comfortable as a Scrum Master or promotes and influences agile practices in project, product and department processes.
  • Competent understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methods, steps, roles and responsibilities to ensure Agile practices are utilized while ensuring advances in security, continuous build, quality, and measurements are achieved.
  • Ability to create trusted relationships with key executive stakeholders, department leaders and team members. Viewed as a trusted stakeholder advocate.
  • Is recognized for business domain expertise associated with 2-3 functional areas and can quickly develop expertise for new Project assignments. Is a contributing member to solution and delivery scope, requirements, and feature discussions.
  • Competent understanding of solution technologies associated with assigned Projects or Products to effectively structure schedules based on technology dependencies and risk mitigations. Is a recognized contributor to IT architecture, design, and roadmap discussions and decisions.
  • Advanced skills with department tools and technologies including MS Office Tools, Tempus resource management, Confluence, Luicid Charts or Visio and advanced skills in Smartsheet or MSProject and Jira and Jira Portfolio.

Certification

  • Certified in Project Management and/or Agile practices
  • Scrum Master Certificate (SMC)
  • Kanban Professional (KMP 1)
  • Project Management Institute Agile Certified Practitioner (PMO ACP)
  • Business analysis and process improvement certifications are a plus:
  • Six Sigma Green belt a plus
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) a plus
  • Agile Analysis Certification (AAC) a plus

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Business, or equivalent experience
  • Master’s Degree in Completer Science, IT, or Business a plus

Work Environment

  • Remote: This role is a remote (work from home (WFH) opportunity, and only open to candidates currently located in the United States and able to work without sponsorship.

  • It requires a suitable space that provides a private and quiet workplace.

  • Expected Work Hours: Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.

  • Travel: May be required to travel to off-site location(s) to attend meetings, as necessary
