Empact Technologies is the leading provider of compliance and risk management solutions for the energy and infrastructure industries. Empact’s NexusIQ™ AI-native software platform and in-house compliance management services enable project developers/owners, EPCs, and investors to manage project compliance and risk; today we serve over 13 GW of solar, wind, battery storage, clean fuels, and carbon capture projects.
We are seeking a Director of Marketing to further strengthen Empact’s leadership position in the clean energy market. Reporting to the VP of Strategy and Partnerships and working closely with the Sales, Compliance, and Engineering teams, the Director will take ownership of outcomes and performance targets, organize the resources needed to attain them, and work cross-functionally to execute programs and initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with hands-on execution experience and a proven track record of scaling marketing operations in the technology sector. This will be our first full-time marketing hire, and candidates should expect to take on responsibilities and work with limited oversight and direction.
Core responsibilities include:
- Demand generation
- Own the generation of marketing-qualified leads through marketing campaigns and initiatives. Define, prioritize, invest, and own responsibility for channels
- Lead the implementation of an account-based marketing approach, including prioritization, discovery / mapping, targeting, and tracking
- Define and maintain Empact’s ideal customer profiles and buyer profiles
2. Positioning / branding
- Maintain Empact’s knowledge of needs in the market (e.g., regulatory requirements) and among our customers
- Build Empact’s brand through publications and communications, including case studies, white papers / thought leadership, conference presentations, and earned media
- Oversee brand guidelines and maintain brand integrity across all marketing materials; ensure consistent brand experience across all customer touchpoints and marketing channels
3. Product marketing
- Gather and leverage market research and competitive analysis
- Gather requirements from customers and partners, and convey them to the product team
- Articulate the benefits of new features for different account and buyer types
- Build analytics tools / dashboards to provide actionable insights
Requirements:
- 8+ years of increasing responsibility with a minimum of 5 years as a director or manager of Marketing, Growth, Demand Generation, or the equivalent
- Experience in the clean energy or infrastructure sector (e.g., with developers, utilities, or independent power producers) and / or with project finance (e.g., with law firms, accountancies, brokers, banks)
- Experience generating high-quality leads from large multi-buyer enterprise accounts
- Experience running account-based marketing strategies
- Experience with online marketing campaigns
- Experience marketing and selling SaaS and software-enabled services
- Demonstrated success scoping, resourcing, and leading inbound and outbound marketing campaigns
- Analytical – data-driven, inquisitive, willing and able to challenge the status quo
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
- Excellent leadership skills – able to influence without authority, plan and coordinate across functions, and cultivate successful teams
- Strategic mindset – hypothesis-driven, iterative, action-oriented
- Ability to own outcomes, prioritize, and leverage resources effectively, requiring minimal direction
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Hubspot and other marketing technology platforms
- Experience with Wordpress or other website management tools
- Prior technology start-up experience
- Experience recruiting and managing marketing firms / contractors

The company is distributed so the candidate can be based anywhere in the US. Some travel (10-20% of time) to conferences, customer meetings, and internal meetings should be expected.
