Responsibilities and more:
Datacoves is a lean, bootstrapped startup building a modern data engineering platform. We’re looking for a full-stack engineer to help us extend and improve our product — someone who’s comfortable taking ownership of features across the stack and working independently in a fast-moving, remote environment.
You’ll work closely with the founder and team to improve backend services, enhance our front-end UI, and occasionally contribute to open-source VS Code extensions used by data engineers.
🌍 Location:
Eastern Europe, Central or South America, or Canada (we prefer time zone alignment with the US East Coast)
🛠️ What You’ll Do:
Build and maintain full-stack features across Django (backend/API) and React (frontend).
Contribute to backend services that power our IDE-based workflows.
Improve reliability, performance, and maintainability across the stack.
Occasionally work on VS Code extensions.
Write and maintain unit/integration tests to support robust development.
Collaborate in a small, async-friendly team with clear goals and minimal overhead.

5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer.
3+ years with React and 2+ with TypeScript.
1+ years working with Django Rest Framework.
Strong understanding of SQL, OOP, and database modeling (PostgreSQL preferred).
Good UX instincts and solid HTML/CSS.
Comfortable working independently and pushing projects forward.
Curious, self-motivated, and open to learning new data domains and workflows (e.g., ELT, data pipelines, analytics).
💡 Bonus Points:
Experience with Chakra UI or similar React component libraries.
Familiarity with VS Code extension development.
Knowledge of Agile or Kanban workflows.
Experience working in a Kubernetes environment.
