The Role
You will be at the centre of how we connect with our members and the wider mental health community. This is a 0.6 FTE maternity leave contract for a 11-month period.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead our marketing strategy: Develop, deliver, and measure campaigns that grow awareness and membership.
- Drive content creation: Manage newsletters, social media, and website updates that showcase EMDR research, events, and member stories.
- Coordinate major events: Take ownership of our annual 4-day hybrid conference, PD day and quarterly webinars.
- Build relationships: Work with sponsors, advertisers, committees, and industry partners to strengthen engagement.
- Optimise performance: Track results, analyse data, and recommend improvements to boost reach and ROI.
- Manage budgets: Ensure marketing and event spend is efficient and impactful.
About You
You are a go-getter who thrives in a dynamic environment, loves wearing multiple hats, and takes pride in seeing your work make a tangible impact. You’re not afraid to think outside the box, spot opportunities, and deliver results.
You have:
- Proven experience in marketing, communications, and event management (min. 3 years)
- A creative streak – able to write, design, and execute campaigns that engage and inspire
- Confidence coordinating events (you know how to bring a conference or webinar series to life)
- Strong stakeholder skills – comfortable collaborating with sponsors, partners, and members
- Sharp time management and the ability to balance multiple projects with ease
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate must be available to be in Sydney, New South Wales, from Monday, 28 April to Sunday, 4 May 2026, to support the EMDRAA Conference 2026.
Required:
- 3+ years in a marketing, communications, or events role (or equivalent)
- Experience planning and delivering large-scale events/conferences
- Strong writing skills and ability to produce engaging content (submit 2 examples)
- Demonstrated success managing social media campaigns and digital channels
Desirable:
- Qualifications in marketing, communications, or event management
- Experience in NFPs, membership associations, or health/mental health sectors
- Passion for mental health and improving outcomes for the community
- Skilled in online event planning platforms (EventsAir will be the platform used for 2026/2027), with strong capability in Zoom (webinar and meeting functions) Canva and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Proficiency in managing and leveraging databases and CRM systems for registrations, reporting, and communications (WordPress).
