Company Description

The EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA) is the leading authority for EMDR therapy in Australia. EMDR is recommended by the World Health Organisation for the treatment of trauma and PTSD. We support a growing membership of mental health professionals across disciplines — psychology, psychiatry, counselling, social work, nursing, and more — through training, advocacy, research, and professional standards.

Our Purpose: To give every person seeking mental health services the best chance to lead a full and meaningful life.

Our Vision: To equip every Australian mental health practitioner with EMDR knowledge and skills.

Our Mission: To champion best practice EMDR therapy and support practitioners across Australia.

Why Join Us?

This is not just another marketing job — it’s a chance to make a difference. You'll help us engage thousands of passionate mental health practitioners and deliver high-impact events that support professionals in trauma recovery across the country.

The Role

You will be at the centre of how we connect with our members and the wider mental health community. This is a 0.6 FTE maternity leave contract for a 11-month period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead our marketing strategy: Develop, deliver, and measure campaigns that grow awareness and membership.
  • Drive content creation: Manage newsletters, social media, and website updates that showcase EMDR research, events, and member stories.
  • Coordinate major events: Take ownership of our annual 4-day hybrid conference, PD day and quarterly webinars.
  • Build relationships: Work with sponsors, advertisers, committees, and industry partners to strengthen engagement.
  • Optimise performance: Track results, analyse data, and recommend improvements to boost reach and ROI.
  • Manage budgets: Ensure marketing and event spend is efficient and impactful.

About You

You are a go-getter who thrives in a dynamic environment, loves wearing multiple hats, and takes pride in seeing your work make a tangible impact. You’re not afraid to think outside the box, spot opportunities, and deliver results.

You have:

  • Proven experience in marketing, communications, and event management (min. 3 years)
  • A creative streak – able to write, design, and execute campaigns that engage and inspire
  • Confidence coordinating events (you know how to bring a conference or webinar series to life)
  • Strong stakeholder skills – comfortable collaborating with sponsors, partners, and members
  • Sharp time management and the ability to balance multiple projects with ease

  • Experience planning and delivering large-scale events/conferences
  • Strong writing skills and ability to produce engaging content (submit 2 examples)
  • Demonstrated success managing social media campaigns and digital channels

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in marketing, communications, or event management
  • Experience in NFPs, membership associations, or health/mental health sectors
