Senior Data Scientist

New opportunity for a new international Tech Hub emerging from Lisbon.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to contribute to the design and execution of advanced analytical and machine learning solutions. This exciting role requires a strategic thinker who can link technical decisions to business objectives, mentor teams, and drive high-quality decision-making across cross-functional groups.

Main Responsibilities:

Core duty descriptions include:

• Designing and implementing machine learning models and solutions.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to align data projects with business objectives.
• Mentoring junior data professionals and promoting best practices.
• Driving data-driven decision making across the organization.
• Managing the end-to-end lifecycle of model development and deployment.
• Evaluating and optimizing existing machine learning systems.
• Utilizing statistical methods to interpret complex data sets.

Key Requirements:

• Advanced Python for ML/DL (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow).
• Strong background in statistics, experimental design, and causal inference.
• Proven experience in developing and scaling complex ML/DL models.
• Proficiency in ML experimentation and tracking tools (MLflow, W&B, Databricks ML).
• Advanced SQL expertise for large-scale data manipulation.
• Deep understanding of MLOps workflows and cloud-based ML platforms.
• Exceptional mentoring skills and ability to communicate complex concepts.
• Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in data science.
• English proficiency (minimum B2 level).

Nice to Have:

• Experience with big data platforms (Spark, Databricks).
• Advanced data visualization skills tailored for executive audiences.
• Aptitude for breaking down ambiguous challenges into actionable plans.
