We are looking for a talented Sr. Data Analyst, to join our BI Team remotely from anywhere in Canada.
About the Role:
As Sr. Data Analyst, you will lead initiatives to build dashboards and business intelligence solutions in support of business operations across eLocal. Reporting to the Manager, Data & Analytics, your day-to-day will involve end-to-end design and development of reports from a wide array of data sources. You will be responsible for setting up data pipelines, transforming raw data into usable formats, creating and defining KPIs, as well as designing visually engaging dashboards. You will leverage a variety of tools and programming languages such as Qlik, dbt, SQL, AWS S3, Amazon Redshift, and Excel to unlock the value of our data. Your work will improve the quality of reporting at eLocal, enabling more accurate data, faster analysis, and smarter decision making for strategic and operational initiatives.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled long-tenured data analyst, BI developer, or data engineer. We are looking for someone who is a technical expert with a proven track record of simplifying and automating reporting processes. The candidate is an independent worker, passionate about data, curious about the digital advertising/home services industry, and eager to make a difference with great data storytelling. We are a Qlik shop – we prefer candidates with hands-on experience in Qlik, but we will also consider candidates with a strong background in other BI tools that are willing to learn Qlik.
Responsibilities:
- Build dashboards, scorecards, and reports to tell a data story through charts and visualizations.
- Analyze and query raw data using SQL from our data warehouse and databases.
- Combine data from multiple data sources and aggregate data across different dimensions.
- Automate and reduce manual data entry to improve accuracy and turnaround times.
- Streamline reporting processes by migrating Excel reports into BI platforms and moving transformations upstream into the data warehouse.
- Write and refactor code to be more efficient in both our BI platform and data warehouse.
- Collaborate with business department stakeholders to understand information needs and define deliverables.
- Guide stakeholders to action via concrete, data-driven recommendations from your dashboards.
- Train company-wide users on the use of self-serve dashboards and how to obtain relevant recommendations for their line of work.
- Partner with Engineering to improve data infrastructure and quality, as well as drive data governance and data literacy initiatives.
- Become the subject matter expert around our sales, call, finance, and marketing data.
- Sharing best practices and providing technical guidance on a highly collaborative, high performing analytics team.
Requirements and Skills:
- 4-7 years working in a relevant data/analytics role
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a business or technical discipline (e.g. analytics, math, physics, engineering, finance, or computer science)
- Proficiency with BI/reporting tools. Preference given to prior experience with Qlik, other tools such as Power BI or Tableau also considered.
- Expert SQL (Redshift, PostgreSQL) skills. Knowledge of Python is a plus but not required.
- Hands-on experience with data processing and building end-to-end data workflows (Extract, Transform, Load)
- Strong analytical skills and mindset, able to clearly explain your methodology to a non-technical audience
- Knowledge of digital marketing, call center, and Salesforce/CRM data is a plus
- Knowledge of the home services industry is a big plus
- Experience with project management tools (like JIRA), documentation tools (like Confluence),
- and data dictionaries/catalogs (like dbt and Collibra)
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, proven track record of building strong relationships
- Grit, accountability, and ownership- you’re willing to go the extra mile with a strong work ethic
- Strong business acumen with the ability to successfully navigate varied asks from different departments, and translate business requirements into data needs
- Self-directed and resourceful, can think critically, troubleshoot and solve complex problems in a fast-paced, data-driven, metrics-oriented environment
- High attention to detail while handling multiple, simultaneous projects under deadline pressure
