Senior Software Engineer (C#/.NET Developer)
Location: Remote (US) | Type: Full Time | Experience: 8+ years
About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own backend work across EDI transaction processing, API development, and cloud-native services for a major federal healthcare program. The work is hands-on C#/.NET and AWS, with direct impact on how healthcare data flows through the platform.
You'll write code that parses, validates, and transforms X12 EDI documents (837, 835, and more), tune SQL stored procedures against MSSQL XML object stores, and build the backend services that integrate with payers, clearinghouses, and trading partners. This is a craft-heavy backend role where senior engineers are expected to debug deeply, write clean code, and contribute to the platform's shared libraries.
If you've worked in healthcare EDI and want to keep going on a platform that's still being shaped, this is your kind of seat.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain C#/.NET and AWS backend services that handle high-volume healthcare EDI transactions
- Parse, validate, and transform X12 EDI documents (837, 835, and others)
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL stored procedures, including execution plan tuning and complex transformations
- Query, parse, and manipulate XML object store data inside MSSQL
- Debug transaction-level issues across payers, clearinghouses, and trading partners
- Contribute to shared platform libraries and services used across product initiatives
- Participate in technical planning, requirements definition, and test planning with engineering, product, and stakeholders
- Deploy, monitor, and support production code, and step in when things go wrong
Qualifications
Core Engineering
- 8+ years of C#/.NET development experience, with a track record on complex enterprise applications
- Strong proficiency in the C#/.NET ecosystem and back-end design and integration patterns
- Strong SQL skills: writing and optimizing stored procedures, troubleshooting execution plans, MSSQL performance tuning
- Database design with SQL Server and Entity Framework
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
Cloud and DevOps
- Hands-on AWS experience (serverless, messaging, storage, databases) preferred
- Familiarity with Azure also useful
- CI/CD practices with AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy
- Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative workflows
- Familiarity with IaC and DevOps practices
Quality and Architecture
- Unit testing with NUnit, xUnit, or MSTest
- Comfortable with microservices, event-driven architecture, and containerization (Docker, ECS, EKS) as a plus
- Agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban) and JIRA
Nice to Have
- Experience with healthcare payer/PBM systems, clearinghouses, or pharmacy operations
Clearance
- US Citizenship required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Why Join Us
The backend team here works on healthcare data that moves between payers, providers, and federal systems every day. The work is technical, the data is real, and the engineers running the codebase actually care about how it's written. You'll be remote, on a team that pairs serious .NET craft with the freedom to make decisions about the platform's direction.
