Role Summary:

Although a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen Group of America, Electrify America acts and feels like a lean start-up company. Established in 2016, our mission is to drive zero emissions vehicle adoption throughout the United States.

The Marketing Data & Consumer Insights Strategist will play a key role in transforming raw data into actionable insights that guide the Electrify America marketing department. This role encompasses end-to-end data science solutions—from data collection and cleaning, to statistical modeling, to communicating insights and findings with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have deep technical skills in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical methodologies, complemented by a strong understanding of consumer insights research. This role will also bring the consumer perspective to decision making through market analysis and research activities, acting as the internal subject matter expert on all things consumer insights, all while building up insight capability across the organization. The successful candidate for this position will have rich experience in market research design and an expert ability to synthesize multiple data sources (primary insights, analytics data, trend and syndicated data) to drive strategic recommendations to internal teams. This role requires the ability to work cross-functionally, manage vendor and agency resources efficiently, strong analytical for data analysis, and strong communication skills to translate complex topics to varying audiences.

Role Responsibilities:

Customer Insights (20%)

  • Responsible for customer insights and intelligence
  • Coordinate research and analysis activities using unstructured and structured data and use programming to clean and organize data
  • Assist the business units in identifying and implementing a roadmap of customer insights needed to drive product development, sales, and growth as the electric vehicle driver consumer base matures.
  • Capture, interpret and summarize results and insights
  • Serve as a consumer advocate by ensuring user needs are understood and translated into measurable success criteria and design inputs

Research Vendor Management (20%)

  • Manage and oversee the work of vendor(s) and external agencies for the execution of research projects, questionnaire development, data collection, reporting and presentation of findings
  • Monitor project plans and schedules to deliver projects on time
  • Manage vendor(s) to deliver high quality work, negotiate cost and manage budget for each project
  • Collaborate with agency partners and internal analytics to develop a competitor analysis framework (including brand impact tracking, NPS, etc.)

Lead Voice of Customer (VoC) research projects (20%)

  • Report monthly on Post-session survey trends and insights, including ad-hoc analyses to support Sales, Account Management, or Operations initiatives
  • Develop, program, and analyze online surveys as needed for the Electrify America team, including internal employee surveys
  • Collaborate with Product & CRM team on usability research activities and customer survey deployment
  • Aggregate reporting from various business groups to provide a holistic view and dashboard of brand health (i.e. brand sentiment, social media, earned media)

Market Analytics (40%)

  • Gather and consolidate data from multiple sources, including marketing platforms, CRM systems, and internal databases.
  • Analyze and interpret data to measure the performance and effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
  • Create detailed visual reports that highlight key insights, trends, and findings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders from Business Development, Marketing, and Product to implement measurable, data-driven strategies
  • Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and implementation.
  • Implement statistical, machine learning, or other mathematical methodologies to solve specific business problems
  • Quantify the impact of launched data products through experimentation and/or causal inference techniques.

Years Of Relevant Experience:

  • 7+ years of data visualization technology experience
  • 5+ years of data management, data analysis, or statistical/mathematical software experience
  • 7 years of experience with customer insights, behavioral research, market research, voice of customer, customer analytics, survey design, etc.

Education (Required):

  • Undergraduate degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Math, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Economics, or a related field.

Education (Desired):

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

Skills:

  • Team Player: Resourceful, flexible and results-oriented with a positive attitude and the ability to contribute in a team environment
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking: Ability to take multiple data sets (primary insights, analytics data, trend and syndicated data), analyze and provide insights into behaviors, and provide strategic recommendations based on the provided data.
  • Data Visualization Skills: Expert in creating clear and compelling visualizations using tools such as Tableau to effectively communicate data insights and findings to stakeholders via PowerPoint presentation.
  • Data Sourcing and Integration: Capable of independently sourcing and integrating data from various internal and external sources to support comprehensive analysis and cross-validation efforts.
  • Research Design: Experience in quantitative and qualitative research design and data analysis required, including segmentation and customer decision journeys.
  • Communication : Experience in communicating with executive-level audiences. Ability to develop and effectively communicate data-driven presentations at multiple levels within the organization, along with partner agencies.
  • Cross collaboration: Comfortable in bringing people, processes or systems together to achieve common goals.Able to gain organizational alignment on recommendations.
  • Learning Oriented: Stays up-to-date on Electric Vehicle (EV) customer research and industry trends.Stays up to date on research best practices.
  • Time Management/Prioritization: Ability to manage time and prioritize work to meet deadlines and deliver most valuable results first. Responsibility to manage own tasks and projects resolving priority conflicts and collaborating to ensure common expectation understanding with clients.

Specialized Skills (Required):

  • Ability to manipulate large data sets with high dimensionality and complexity; fluency in SQL (or other database languages) and a scripting language (Python)
  • Knowledge of relevant statistical measures such as confidence intervals, significance of error measurements, development and evaluation data sets, etc.
  • Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
  • Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code
  • Experience with machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance
  • Strong analytical skills - ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Sharp technical acumen complimented by strong data industry knowledge
  • Strong business sense – understanding abstract business needs and strategy to drive data analysis
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic
  • Presentation skills – ability to turn data into actionable information through effective visualization and design
  • Strong knowledge and experience defining and prioritizing customer requirements in a highly dynamic environment
  • Resource management
  • Experience with Agile workflow, project scoping, timeline estimation, process documentation
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (such as Tableau, etc.) and databases
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Experience in data mining, trend investigation and resulting business impact

  • Established experience in working with behavioral research firms in the electric vehicle space
  • Leverage AI-powered tools and machine learning algorithms to enhance data analysis, uncover insights, and drive strategic decision-making.
