Position Summary
The AWS Cloud Migration Engineer will be an integral member of a migration team assisting clients who are migrating from on-premises infrastructure or VMC to AWS cloud native services. You will work with a technical leader to implement, and manage, and migrate workloads to AWS cloud environments, while maintaining optimal migration strategies for diverse application portfolios. The engineer will utilize AWS-native services, containerization, serverless architectures, and advanced analytics capabilities to modernize and migrate applications, ensuring seamless transitions that align with best practices and the Well-Architected Framework. The engineer will lead clients through Assess, Mobilize, and Migrate phases of an AWS MAP migration. This positions reports to Sr Director, Cloud & Migration.
A Glimpse into the Daily Routine of a Cloud Migration Engineer
As an AWS Cloud Migration Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing cloud migration projects on the AWS platform. You will leverage your expertise in AWS migration tools and methodologies to ensure successful and efficient migrations for our clients. Additionally, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship to customer engineers as they begin to adopt AWS services.
Responsibilities
- Utilize AWS migration tools and methodologies to assess, plan, and execute migrations of workloads to the AWS platform.
- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless application migrations across compute, storage, networking, and security.
- Utilize AWS services such as AWS Migration Hub (MGN) Database Migration Service to facilitate migrations
- Implement and manage cloud services and resources, such as virtual machines, containers, storage, networking, and serverless computing
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) templates to streamline the provisioning and configuration of cloud resources
- Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, ensuring efficient resource utilization and cost optimization
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to client cloud engineers and support teams as they adopt AWS
- Collaborate with security teams to implement and enforce cloud security measures, including access controls, encryption, and threat detection.
- Support incident response and troubleshooting of cloud infrastructure-related issues, ensuring minimal service disruptions
Qualifications
- 4+ year of experience developing AWS cloud infrastructure
- 2+ years Hands-on experience with AWS migration services such as AWS Migration Hub (MGN), Database Migration Service (DMS), and AWS Cloud Migration Services.
- Solid experience planning and executing cloud migration projects, preferably on the AWS platform, including Mobilize (wave planning) and Migrate phases of an AWS Migration.
- Proficient in developing Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g.: Terraform / AWS CloudFormation)
- Work with multiple clients, in parallel
- Experience with AWS including core services and infrastructure components
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash
- 2+ years experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
Nice to have
- Experience with log management, monitoring, and data analysis
- Familiarity with virtualization, containerization, and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols, including virtual private clouds (VPCs), subnets, load balancers, and DNS
- Understanding of cloud security principles and best practices, including access controls, encryption, and security groups
- Experience in data and database management, including data integration, ETL processes, SQL query optimization, and database administration
- Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve cloud infrastructure and data-related issues
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders in English language
- Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends
- Knowledge of Agile / Scrum SDLC methodologies
- Ability to work Eastern Standard Time Zone schedule
- AWS Solution Architect Associate Certification
- Experience in VMWare hosted Virtual Machine Infrastructure
- Cloud Cost Optimization (Right-Sizing, Cost Management Tools)
