We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PV designer to join our residential solar team. The PV Design Specialist will be responsible for confirming the feasibility of a installation, working with third-party vendors to complete design tasks, maintaining a high level of quality control and design accuracy, and delivering a positive customer experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential solar design and engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with cross-functional teams, to drive alignment and collaboration.
- Work with a team of third-party outsourced proposal designers to ensure accuracy, timeliness and overall customer experience with our external customers and our internal sales team members. All state specific required disclosure documents for the projects are also completed with this proposal team.
- Create accurate and compliant solar PV system designs for residential projects.
- Create accurate PV system BOMs (Bill of Materials) for residential projects, and work with distributors to order equipment and get equipment delivered to each installation.
- Work with internal and external teams to schedule and follow up on site surveys and schedule as needed.
- Work with a team of third-party CAD designers and structural engineers to maintain accurate and compliant solar PV system designs for residential projects.
- Ensure that all designs meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
- Review and approve solar system designs, including layout, electrical drawings, structural calculations, and equipment specifications, to verify accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project managers, sales teams, and installers, to clarify design requirements and address any discrepancies or issues.
- Maintain quality control measures and standard operating procedures for design activities.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of design documentation, data accuracy, and system components to identify and resolve any errors or inconsistencies.
- Update/maintain data within various systems used for solar system design, including CRM, Finance Portals, Aurora, CAD software, and project management tools.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members and external partners on design verification processes, requirements, and best practices.
- Stay current on industry standards, codes, and regulations related to residential solar design and engineering.
- Work with install crews for live solar installation revisions, ensuring seamless execution of changes
- Additional responsibilities as they arise within the Design Team to ensure that we are consistently delivering an accurate and complete product.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in design engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the residential solar industry, with increasing responsibility in solar system design and engineering.
- Proven experience in managing CAD designers, structural engineers, and design verification processes for residential solar projects.
- Strong understanding of solar PV system design principles, components, and installation practices.
- Familiarity with industry software and tools used for solar system design, such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar programs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve design-related issues and challenges.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and quality-focused, with a commitment to delivering accurate and compliant solar system designs.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and other sales operations tools and technologies.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with the ability to adapt to change and drive results.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
