You’ll join a strategic programme to modernise the organisation’s data platform and AI capabilities on Databricks. The initiative combines platform migration, ML/GenAI enablement, and product ionisation of models supporting grid stability, demand forecasting, predictive maintenance, and renewable integration.

Role overview

We’re seeking a hands-on Senior Data Scientist to own technical delivery and partner with data engineers, platform teams, and business stakeholders through the Databricks migration. You’ll design, build and productionise ML solutions (time-series forecasting/anomaly detection) and help migrate/optimise existing PySpark pipelines onto Databricks.

Skills & Responsibilities

  • Lead development and product ionisation of ML models for demand forecasting, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and asset optimisation.
  • Migrate, refactor and optimise existing Spark/PySpark ETL and feature pipelines to Databricks (Delta Lake, Lakehouse patterns).
  • Strong ML experience: time-series forecasting, anomaly detection, classification/regression and model deployment.
  • Cloud experience: AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Collaborate with platform and data engineering teams to implement best practices for CI/CD, MLflow model tracking, and Databricks job orchestration.
  • Ensure data quality and build robust feature engineering for temporal and geospatial energy data (meter reads, SCADA, sensor streams).
  • Experience in energy / utilities domain is desirable.
  • Experience with geospatial analytics or GIS.
  • Knowledge of LLMs/GenAI for document understanding, incident summarisation, or operator-assist tools.

If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, please apply with an updated CV or contact me on malakai.bulley@edisonsmart.com for a confidential chat.
