Easypay is a leading Portuguese Payment Service Provider (PSP) powering the payment experiences for e-commerce, marketplaces, and businesses of all sizes. We process millions of transactions yearly and help merchants reconcile, settle, and grow their revenue through innovative and reliable payment solutions.

We are scaling our platform to handle more merchants, more volume, and new payment methods, while staying compliant with European regulations like PSD2, DORA, and CESOP.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior/Staff Software Engineer with strong experience in Golang and microservices architecture to design, build, and scale the next generation of Easypay’s payment platform.

Our platform exposes public-facing APIs that power critical merchant integrations. Every detail matters. From API design to performance and error handling, you will play a key role in ensuring we deliver a world-class developer experience.

We are a Remote-First company: you can work from anywhere in Portugal, or choose to collaborate from our Lisbon office. We believe you should work wherever you’re most productive.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable Golang microservices
• Ensure precision in API design, versioning, and documentation
• Lead technical discussions and guide architecture decisions for secure, performant payment systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Ops, and Compliance to deliver secure, compliant, and resilient solutions.
• Mentor and coach other engineers, elevating the team’s technical capabilities.
• Ensure code quality through code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement practices.
• Contribute to our developer experience strategy — making integrations simple and reliable for merchants.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years working with Golang in production systems.
• Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Deep understanding of REST and gRPC API design
• Solid knowledge of microservices principles and cloud-native development (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL) and familiarity with NoSQL/datastores (Redis, DynamoDB, etc.).
• Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK, etc.).
• Ability to work autonomously, make informed trade-offs, and drive initiatives to completion.
• Strong attention to detail, you care about API consistency, naming, and developer experience.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and curiosity to explore new technologies and approaches.
• Strong communication skills.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Typescript/Nodejs.
• Experience with payment systems, fintech, or regulated environments.
• Knowledge of security best practices.
